PGA DFS Expert Roundtable - Workday Charity Open

The RotoBaller PGA Staff digs into their Expert Roundtable for the Workday Charity Open, an article that provides insight into how the experts are viewing this week's PGA DFS slate.

Please enjoy this PGA Premium article free for a limited time.

Hello RotoBallers and thanks for joining us for the Workday Charity Open! This is a new article that we're offering each week as part of our PGA Premium subscription, and we hope that you will find it useful.

Be sure also to read all of our other top-notch weekly PGA DFS and betting articles to help you win big!

RotoBaller PGA Expert Roundtable

Workday Charity Open

The Expert Roundtable article is an attempt to get you inside the minds of our PGA DFS staff for every tournament.

Our four top golf writers - Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Josh Bennett, and Tommy Bell - will answer the same set of questions each week to give you an idea of how they are viewing the PGA DFS slate. Let's tee it up for the Travelers Championship!

Who is your favorite DFS value play?

  • Joe Nicely: Russell Henley ($7.3k)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Maverick McNealy ($7.5k) & Lanto Griffin ($7.4k)
  • Josh Bennett: Max Homa ($7.1k)
  • Tommy Bell: Russell Henley ($7.3k)

Who is your favorite DFS “high priced” play?

  • Joe Nicely: Patrick Cantlay ($10.6k)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Xander Schauffele ($10.2k) & Jon Rahm ($10.9k)
  • Josh Bennett: Patrick Cantlay ($10.6k)
  • Tommy Bell: Justin Rose ($9.7k)

Who is your top GPP play?

  • Joe Nicely: Viktor Hovland ($9.5k) & Joaquin Niemann ($8.4K)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Jon Rahm ($10.9k)
  • Josh Bennett: Gary Woodland ($8.3k)
  • Tommy Bell: Bud Cauley ($7.1k)

Who is your top Cash-Game play?

  • Joe Nicely:  Joel Dahmen ($7.7k)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Hideki Matsuyama ($10k)
  • Josh Bennett: Matt Kuchar ($8.5k)
  • Tommy Bell: Adam Hadwin ($8.2k)

Which popular golfer will you be “fading”?

  • Joe Nicely: Jon Rahm ($10.9k)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Marc Leishman ($8.7k)
  • Josh Bennett: Marc Leishman ($8.7k)
  • Tommy Bell: Patrick Cantlay ($10.6k)

What stands out as the most important stat for this golf course?

  • Joe Nicely: SG: Approach, SG: T2G, Ball Striking, Par 4 Scoring (400-450yds)
  • Spencer Aguiar: SG: Par 4, Bogey Avoidance, Par-5: Birdie or Better %
  • Josh Bennett: Ball Striking
  • Tommy Bell: Proximity 150-175 yards & 175-200 yards, Par 5 Scoring, SG: Approach

Who is your favorite DFS “dart throw”?

  • Joe Nicely: Henrik Norlander ($6.5k)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Adam Schenk ($6.5k)
  • Josh Bennett: Brandon Wu ($6.5k)
  • Tommy Bell: Luke List ($7k)

What is your favorite bet of the week? (Any type)

  • Joe Nicely: Outrights - Morikawa (28/1), Niemann (40/1), Dahmen (80/1)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Ryan Palmer -120 over Matt Wallace
  • Josh Bennett: Matt Kuchar outright (40/1)
  • Tommy Bell: Adam Hadwin outright (48/1)

Make a “bold prediction” for this week:

  • Joe Nicely: Jon Rahm misses the cut
  • Spencer Aguiar: Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm are paired together in the final group Sunday, which will cause @nagelsbagels to either block or be blocked by at least 10 Twitter users on the day.
  • Josh Bennett: Max Homa wins by two shots
  • Tommy Bell: Adam Hadwin leads after first round by two or more shots

Who is your favorite overall DFS golfer and why?

Joe Nicely: Patrick Cantlay due to his consistency, style of play, and course history.

Spencer Aguiar: Not in love with Jon Rahm's price, but I do believe he provides the most safety and upside of anyone on the board.

Josh Bennett: Matt Kuchar - He's stuck in a price range of golfers being talked up way more than he is and he's a better golfer than those around him. He's won the Memorial with a handful of additional top-10s. Way too cheap for this event.

Tommy Bell: Adam Hadwin - Terrific form at a course that emphasizes long-iron play. Price did not increase despite a top-five finish last week. Elite combo of upside and safety.

What is your optimal DFS lineup building strategy?

Joe Nicely: With the lack of viable options below $7k, I'll be leaning "Balanced" this week.

Spencer Aguiar: Aggressively balanced.

Josh Bennett: Balanced.

Tommy Bell: Balanced build overall with no golfers below $7k

Who is your pick to win the tournament?

  • Joe Nicely: JASON DAY! Just kidding....Patrick Cantlay 🙂
  • Spencer Aguiar: Xander Schauffele
  • Josh Bennett: Justin Rose
  • Tommy Bell: Justin Rose with Viktor Hovland & Adam Hadwin inside the top-five.
