Week 11 Running Back Rankings Analysis

By AJ Guel (originally posted to Flickr as Arian Foster) [CC-BY-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsIt was nice to see Marshawn Lynch deliver a huge game last week. He leads the league with 12 touchdowns, and half of those have come in the last two games after a three-week drought. The Chiefs are tough, but Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon did pretty well last week, so Lynch should continue to play at a high level here. Alfred Morris is coming off two of his three best games on the season, and he should get another touchdown or two this week against the Bucs. It's no coincidence that his three highest rush yard totals are the games that RG3 started.

Le'Veon Bell has a good matchup, but he has slowed down lately, and I think he needs his bye week badly. He hasn't gone over 70 total yards in the past two weeks. He should be fine, but his touches (second in the league) have been wearing him down.

I have Fred Jackson really high, and I'll probably move him down a bit before Thursday night's game. I do think this is still his job, and they didn't use him much last week, as Dixon and Brown were doing fine and they wanted to ease Jackson back in. That should've provided ample rest for the Thursday game. Out of the other two, I like Bryce Brown more, and he very quietly hit 100 total yards last week despite a fumble. He could definitely be a nice FLEX play.

Ryan Mathews is expected to return this week, and I fully expect him to slide back into the lead role. Oliver had a nice run for a while, but he really slowed down of late. Similarly, Rashad Jennings might return this week. He's already missed more time than expected, but Andre Williams has been bad, Peyton Hillis had a concussion and Michael Cox broke his leg. It's a pretty bad situation in New York, and Jennings could easily surpass 20 touches if he's ready to go.

My rankings for now assume Giovani Bernard will play this week, but there have been reports that he miss a few more games. Jeremy Hill should get a healthy share of touches either way, but he would go from an RB2 to an RB1 if Gio is out again.

Even if Montee Ball returns this week, I prefer C.J. Anderson. My thinking is that I'll stick with the guy who has shown us something on the field vs. the guy who has struggled all season. Both are worth owning, because we know how valuable the lead back in Denver can be.

I am very high on Carlos Hyde. Overreaction? Perhaps, but we did just see how bad the Giants run defense is. The 49ers don't have to match the Seahawks performance for Hyde to have some nice FLEX value. On the other hand, I'm fairly low on fellow rookie Tre Mason. Denver has been amazing against the run, and when they get ahead quick, teams have to look to the air. If Mason goes above 50 yards rushing it would be the best performance against the Broncos in several weeks.

Good luck in Week 11 RotoBallers!
