NBA DFS Prop Picks for Wednesday (2/17/21) - Monkey Knife Fight

Jake Finnen provides his NBA DFS prop picks for Wednesday, February 17th, 2021 on Monkey Knife Fight. Make your DFS picks with his fantasy basketball advice.

With three postponed games already on the schedule, Wednesday still has enough contests to make it more than worthwhile. The biggest issue with tonight is that so many teams are on the second night of a back-to-back, and normally fatigue wouldn't be a problem, but this season isn't exactly normal. Some teams like the Magic are only able to play eight players, and a quick peek at their depth chart shows one of the more interesting rotations in the league.

With so few shooters in this game, it's hard not to like the upside for rebounds in this game. If Nikola Vucevic, R.J. Barrett, and Julius Randle have lines for rebounds, take the over. As for scoring points and assist totals, Randle, Vucevic, and Michael Carter-Williams are the facilitators that will carry the offenses.

MonkeyKnifeFight.com continues to be ahead of the curve with their canceling of contests amid postponements, so don't worry about wasting money on a player or game that might not play. As always, you can find me in the NBA Chat Room or @HalfCourtJester on Twitter with any questions, especially since lines and players are subject to change throughout the day.

ATL @ BOS

Jaylen Brown (BOS) MORE 26.5 Points - Trae Young (ATL) MORE 26.5 Points

Jaylen Brown is playing well and there is no reason to think he won't post another high-scoring game, but Trae Young has been all over the place in terms of production. He's not scoring like he's usually known to, but the shot attempts and opportunities are there. At this point, bettors are just waiting for him to have a good night scoring and betting the under has worked thus far.

The Boston defense is going to struggle against Young, Clint Capela, and John Collins, so while Young does have upside, so does most of the Hawks offense.

DEN @ WAS

Bradley Beal (WAS) MORE 31.5 Points -  Nikola Jokic (DEN) MORE 27.5

Last night, the lines for Bradley Beal and Nikola Jokic were 29.5 and 25.5 points, respectively. Even with the slight increase, the Denver Nuggets proved last night that they are unwilling to help Jokic score this season and that he should just do it himself. The upside is all-around and he should have upside for assists, since the Nuggets "should" shoot a little better than yesterday.

As for Beal, it's nightly for him to score 30-32 points, and that's not even considering upside against this defense that won't have their better defenders.

IND @ MIN

Domantas Sabonis (IND) MORE 23.5 Points - Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN) MORE 21.5

Karl-Anthony Towns couldn't buy a bucket last night against the Lakers that didn't even play Anthony Davis, so you could look at this two ways. Either he "rebounds" against the Pacers and Myles Turner, which isn't a fun bet to think about, but at the same time, 22 points isn't hard for him to reach if he does matchup directly against someone that isn't Turner.

Domantas Sabonis has his work cut out for him, and even though he won't have the athletic advantage, he is going to be owning the paint and his mid-range and post-hooks are going to be there all game.

DET @ CHI

Zach LaVine (CHI) MORE 29.5 Points - Jerami Grant (DET) LESS 23.5

The Pistons defense is good, and the team isn't nearly as bad as their record, but that won't limit Zach LaVines upside. Detroit is more likely to limit the rest of the Bulls who already struggle to score, rather than the one player that has scored 30 points against a majority of defenses in the league.

Jerami Grant has been scoring less and less and over the past two weeks, he's averaging 20 points. Over the last week, however, that average has dropped to 13 points and that's just been the way his season has been going. Few Pistons players were hitting shots early on, so he filled the void. Now, players like Josh Jackson, Delon Wright and Saddiq Bey have done a great job as a supporting cast, so Grant can go back to doing what he does best, being an extremely lengthy 3-&-D player. That being said, it's hard to like him for a big game just randomly, even against the Bulls frontcourt.
