ANALYSIS: Once one of the game's top prospects, Jo Adell made his big league debut in 2020 at the age of 21. He struck out at an alarming rate that first season (41.7%) and each season since, failing to deliver on his once-hyped status. Out of minor league options and seemingly relegated to a platoon situation this season, he's begun to hit consistently and has begun to get more regular at-bats than he was earlier in the season, especially now with Mike Trout set to miss time that should be the case going forward.

It resulted in him raising his batting average all the way up to .316 on the season (that is before an 0-for-5 day on Sunday dropped it to .290). The former first-round draft pick also has three doubles, a triple, four home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored, and five stolen bases. If not for his league-leading five times caught stealing, he'd have more. But at least he's running. He's still not walking much at 4.4% (league avg. 8.7%) but carried a palatable 22.2% K% (league avg. 22.5%) into Sunday's contest before striking out four times.

Hopefully Sunday's poor showing isn't a harbinger of things to come for the 25-year-old. With his pedigree and power/speed combo, he offers tremendous upside, but also has an abyss-like floor. Managers will have to weigh the risk/reward, but if interested in his services -- at least while he's hot -- the right-handed hitter is available in almost 60% of Yahoo leagues.
