ANALYSIS: The tank job in New York is in full effect still and Jason Smith has been one of the biggest benefactors because of it. With a potential buyout on the horizon for Amar'e Stoudemire (one that the Knicks would jump at), more minutes could be coming to Smith. The 7 foot veteran from Colorado State is as fundamental as anyone on the Knicks and Derek Fisher is rewarding him with 31.7 minutes per game over his past ten. He's responded with a line of 10.6 points, 6.3 rebounds. 3.5 assists, 0.4 threes, 0.5 steals, 0.8 blocks, 0.9 turnovers, .474 FG%, .857 FT%. Though unspectacular, the minutes he's getting gives him much more upside compared to players getting only twenty minutes a game. So long as Carmelo Anthony's minutes are being monitored as heavy as they have been, Jason Smith will keep getting his numbers.
