ANALYSIS: Washington Nationals outfield prospect James Wood has been one of the best hitters in the minor leagues this season and is quickly approaching his major league debut.
Through his first taste of Triple-A ball this season, Wood has posted a .356/.460/.582 line with seven long balls, nine stolen bases, and a 29:33 BB:K ratio.
The 21-year-old has been especially impressive through May with an incredible .412/.508/.765 slash line.
This is a big improvement when looking at his mediocre .248/.334/.492 slash line last season at Double-A.

However, the left-handed bat is still struggling against southpaws as he holds a 5:11 BB:K ratio compared to his 24:22 BB:K ratio against right-handed pitchers. This is the one knock on his game and could be one of the major reasons on why he has not joined the major league roster yet.
The No. 5 prospect in baseball is worth stashing in all formats, especially with how well he is hitting the ball. A promotion could be right around the corner.
