Is Brock Purdy Out for the 2025 Season?
Leading up to Week 2, Prudy was dealing with a "turf toe variant," according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Purdy reportedly suffered this injury during their Week 1 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. In this contest, Purdy also suffered a shoulder injury, but this injury does not seem as serious as the form of turf toe.

He was unable to progress, which paved the way for Mac Jones to get the starting nod in Week 2, and he was able to lead the 49ers to victory.
Shortly before this contest, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the team is not "optimistic" that Purdy would be able to turn the corner in time to suit up in Week 3 when the 49ers face the Arizona Cardinals. A source said that while Purdy has gotten better, "next week will be tight."
49ers are not optimistic Brock Purdy will return from his toe injury for a Week 3 matchup vs. Arizona, but it’s not out of the question and he has improved. “We’ll see for next week,” one source said about Purdy. “Next week will be tight, but he progressed a lot this week.” pic.twitter.com/jWqFuKCia5

While Purdy is trending in the wrong direction for the short-term, fantasy managers should not be overly concerned with his availability for the majority of the campaign. Seeing that Purdy still has a path to suit up in Week 3, even if it is unlikely, suggests he could be in a good position to return in Week 4.
Fantasy managers should continue to stash him on all their rosters as he appears to be trending toward a return in Week 4.
Brock Purdy 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Even if Purdy is unable to play in Week 3, he still carries QB1 upside for the remainder of the campaign. In Week 1, Purdy enjoyed a strong start to the season, going 26-for-35 with 277 yards and a 2:2 TD:INT. In this contest, Purdy added 17 yards on the ground. In addition, during this game, Purdy lost his top target, Kittle, in the opening half due to injury, and was without Aiyuk, but he was still able to produce QB1 numbers.
With both Kittle and Aiyuk slated to return later this season, the entire offense should see a substantial boost in the second half.
In 2023 and 2024, Purdy produced as a QB1 in all formats, averaging 22.8 and 22.4 PPR points per game in each season. In 2023, Purdy was surrounded by numerous offensive weapons and totaled a career best 4,280 yards with 31 passing scores, 144 rushing yards, and two rushing scores.
However, in 2024, playing without Deebo Samuel Sr., Christian McCaffrey, and Aiyuk for the majority of the campaign, Purdy continued to produce QB1 numbers, throwing for 3,864 yards with 20 touchdowns. He relied on his legs more often as he ran for 323 yards and five scores, both career highs.

Seeing Purdy rely more on his legs last season could set him up for a dominant second half this season, especially if he can overcome this injury and the offense welcomes back both Kittle and Aiyuk at full strength.
With Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings proving to be stable options in the passing attack, this offense is in a great position to improve as the season progresses, once Purdy, Kittle, and Aiyuk are at full strength.
Purdy will be a solid top-10 option in all formats when he is cleared to return.
