Fantasy Baseball Injury Reports for Hitters - Updates for Pete Alonso, Aaron Judge, Ryan Mountcastle, Max Muncy, Byron Buxton

Pete Alonso - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

Fantasy baseball injury updates and injury reports for MLB hitters as of 6/14/2023, including Pete Alonso, Aaron Judge, Ryan Mountcastle, Max Muncy, and Byron Buxton.

Fantasy baseball league standings are beginning to take shape, but injuries can cause major lineup problems and change things in a hurry. There's plenty of star power in the injury headlines this week, so be sure to keep up to date. Let's take a look at injured hitters including Pete Alonso, Aaron Judge, Ryan Mountcastle, Max Muncy, Byron Buxton, and more.

This is our weekly edition of fantasy baseball injury updates for hitters as of June 14, 2023. We'll be covering all positions throughout the week, so stay tuned. Some players on this list impact fantasy baseball more than others, but with leagues of all shapes and sizes, you never know which guys will force fantasy managers to search waiver wires in hopes of finding adequate replacements.

Pete Alonso Injury Update

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) took ground balls at first base on Tuesday. Alonso is on the injured list with a bone bruise and sprain in his left wrist, but he's already doing baseball activities. He is expected to miss three to four weeks, but fantasy managers have to be happy with the fact that he looks like he's already on track for a quick recovery.

The 28-year-old All-Star has been one of the few bright spots for the disappointing Mets in 2023 and still leads the league with 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 62 games despite hitting only .231 (53-for-229). Keep Alonso stashed in all fantasy formats. Mark Canha and Mark Vientos should continue to keep splitting playing time at the cold corner in New York until Alonso returns from his injury.

Aaron Judge Injury Update

There remains no timetable for New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge's (toe) return to the lineup. Manager Aaron Boone has insisted over the past week that the team won't have an accurate timetable until the swelling in Judge's sprained right big toe dissipates, which remains a work in progress. "There's still a bunch of stuff going on in there," Judge said Sunday. "But improvements each day, which has been a good sign. No step backs or any holdups.

We're on the right track." The Yankees aren't going to rush the All-Star slugger back before he's fully ready, so fantasy managers will need to remain patient. As of Sunday, Judge said he had "no idea" when he'd start baseball activities. The Yanks have been rolling with an outfield combination of Billy McKinneyIsiah Kiner-FalefaWillie Calhoun and Jake Bauers.

Ryan Mountcastle Injury Update

The Baltimore Orioles placed infielder Ryan Mountcastle (illness) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 10) on Tuesday with vertigo and selected the contract of catcher Mark Kolozsvary from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. The team also designated right-hander Noah Denoyer for assignment. Mountcastle hasn't played since last Friday and will get some time to recover.

The 26-year-old corner infielder has struggled in his last eight games (4-for-30 with 11 K's), so hopefully this little break will get him back on the right track offensively and mentally. Overall, Mountcastle has hit just .227 (55-for-242), but his power upside (11 homers, 39 RBI) in an improved O's offense is attractive to fantasy managers.

Max Muncy Injury Update

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy (hamstring) was out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox because of a left-hamstring strain that he suffered while running to first base in his last at-bat on Sunday. Muncy will have an MRI exam on Wednesday and won't be in the lineup until at least Thursday.

If the 32-year-old left-handed slugger isn't back by the series finale against Chicago on Thursday, there's a chance he'll be placed on the injured list. He's hitting a disappointing .191 (40-for-209) on the season, but the two-time All-Star has also added a useful 18 home runs, 45 RBI and 39 runs scored in 60 games played.

Byron Buxton Injury Update

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (ribs) needs a few more days before returning from the injured list, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The 29-year-old slugger has been sidelined since June 3 due to a left-rib contusion.

He suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch and hasn't played since then. Buxton is eligible to return on Tuesday, but it sounds more likely that he'll return at some point during the weekend. Fantasy managers will have to check back for more information later in the week.

Eloy Jimenez Injury Update

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (leg) remained out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 26-year-old was pulled out from Thursday's game due to a left leg injury. He has been sidelined since then, but still hasn't been placed on the injured list.

It sounds like the team believes it's a minor injury, so hopefully Jimenez is back soon but he'll likely be placed on the injured list if he isn't back in a few days.

Jeremy Pena Injury Update

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena (illness) remained out of the starting lineup again on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. Pena sat out on Sunday with an illness and apparently is still under the weather despite an off day on Monday. Hopefully, he'll be able to return to Wednesday's lineup.

The 25-year-old Dominican has contributed modestly across the board for fantasy managers this year, hitting .252 (62-for-246) with 16 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 26 RBI, six stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 268 plate appearances and 63 games in his second major-league season.

Joey Gallo Injury Update

The Minnesota Twins activated outfielder Joey Gallo (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned outfielder Kyle Garlick to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Gallo was back in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday to face Milwaukee Brewers, recording one hit and one walk in three plate appearances. s.

It should come as no surprise that Gallo isn't making much contact -- he's hitting just .188 (26-for-138) in 46 games this year, but he has added 11 home runs and 23 RBI in 165 plate appearances.
