FanShield 500: NASCAR DFS Value Picks (Premium Content)

All other NASCAR Premium Tools can be accessed on the premium dashboard.

This week, the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Phoenix Raceway for the FanShield 500, the fourth race of the 2020 season. This will be the first race that will use the 2020 Short Track Rules Package, therefore the racing and results that are scored this week will be indicative of other short track races this season.

Despite the new rules package, a combination of placing dominators with drivers that will pick up place differential into lineups will be key to having a winning lineup this week. In order to have the most amount of cap flexibility for lineups to take advantage of putting the best drivers of the week for Phoenix, consider using the following drivers that are best bargain values.

DFS Value Picks for FanShield 500

Ross Chastain #6 (DraftKings: $7,000) | (FanDuel: $7,400)

Ross Chastain is making his fifth start at Phoenix this week, but it’s his first with Roush-Fenway Racing as he continues to fill-in for Ryan Newman. In four starts at the Arizona track, Chastain’s best finish is 24th, but he scored positive Place Differential in all of his starts. Ryan Newman scored a finish in the Top 15 the last time the #6 Roush-Fenway Racing team went to Phoenix, therefore Chastain who normally performs better than what is expected out of the equipment he drives like Newman, is capable of scoring a solid Top 15 finish for value. Depending on where he starts, Chastain will likely pick up Place Differential as well.

Update: Chastain will start 24th in this week’s race at Phoenix. Chastain’s overall outlook has not changed significantly since qualifying, but he will likely pick up a few spots for Place Differential due to his starting position.

Tyler Reddick #8 (DraftKings: $6,900) | (FanDuel: $6,700)

Tyler Reddick was the highest finishing rookie driver from last week’s race at Auto Club Speedway. In five starts at Phoenix in the Xfinity Series, Reddick has four Top 10 finishes and scored positive Place Differential four times. He had the best 10 Consecutive Lap Average of all drivers in first practice and picked up positive Place Differential in the last two races this season. Richard Childress Racing generally has good equipment for races at Phoenix and Tyler Reddick is already showing better practice speeds in comparison to most of the other bargain drivers. Reddick has a high chance of finishing in the Top 15 with a fair chance of competing for a Top 10 finish.

Update: Tyler Reddick will start 29th at Phoenix Raceway. Based on practice speeds, he will score plenty of positions for Place Differential and has become one of the best bargain values of the week.

Cole Custer #41 (DraftKings: $6,300) | (FanDuel: $6,500)

Cole Custer is an absolute top bargain value for this week’s race at Phoenix. In six starts in the Xfinity Series at Phoenix, Custer has five Top 10 finishes, which include two Top 5 finishes in his last two starts at the track. Custer ranked 10th in the 10 Consecutive Lap Average out of all drivers in final practice, displaying speeds better than a lot of other drivers above his value. Phoenix was a strong track for Custer in the Xfinity Series and with the equipment he has at Stewart-Haas Racing, do not be surprised if Custer competes for a Top 10 finish.

Update: Cole Custer will start 16th in this week’s race at Phoenix. His outlook remains unchanged as his practice speeds and equipment point to a good chance of competing for a Top 10 finish, making Custer one of the bargain values to best anchor lineups.

Ty Dillon #13 (DraftKings: $6,200) | (FanDuel: $5,500)

Ty Dillon is one of the best options for cap flexibility for Phoenix while still scoring respectable results for the value. In Eight Starts at Phoenix, Ty Dillon has six Top 20 finishes, which include each of the last three races at the track. He also had the fifth-best single lap speed during first practice and scored positive Place Differential in each of his last three Phoenix starts. Ty Dillon will finish in the Top 20 based on his equipment at Germain Racing, but he also has a chance to place in the Top 15.

Update: Ty Dillon qualified 25th for this week’s FanShield 500. Dillon remains as one of the better options for cap flexibility and will likely pick up a few positions based on Place Differential.

Ryan Preece #47 (DraftKings: $5,400) | (FanDuel: $5,000)

Ryan Preece is making his fourth start at Phoenix and is one of the cheapest bargain values worth placing in lineups. In three starts at Phoenix, Preece’s best finish is 26th, which he scored in his last start at the track. During final practice, he displayed speeds indicative of a Top 15 finish. Preece has picked up more experience over time, which is crucial for improving results at a track like Phoenix. Based on practice speeds and his equipment, Preece will finish inside the Top 20 with a chance of placing in the Top 15.

Update: Ryan Preece will start 20th at Phoenix. His outlook does not greatly change, but he has a chance of scoring Place Differential as he likely will compete for a Top 15 finish.
