Dez Bryant on Target to Play Week 8 and Ray Rice Still Wants to Play Football

If you drafted Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant in the first round of your fantasy football league, it’s probably too late for his return to do much good for you. But in case you’re still in your league’s playoff hunt, you will be happy to hear that Cowboys VP Stephen Jones says Bryant is “on target” to play in Week 8.

Before jumping the gun and submitting him into your lineups, keep in mind that he is anything but a sure thing to play on Sunday. In addition, the team has a really tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Oh, and no matter how healthy Bryant is, he can’t throw the football to himself.

…I’m not entirely sure Matt Cassel can throw the football to him either.

Given how risky Bryant will be even if he is cleared to play, I would consider him a WR3 at best. I look at it this way, if you’re still in your leagues playoff hunt even though you’ve been without Bryant for all but one game thus far this season, you probably don’t need him in Week 8 either. If he gets cleared to play, don’t submit him into your starting lineup unless you absolutely have to.

In other news, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice hasn’t given up on football quite yet.

"Fitness is my life," Rice said, according to The Baltimore Sun. "I'm doing what I've got to do to get another shot."

Rice hasn’t been rumored to be on any team’s radar for quite awhile. The last time we even heard whispers of a team interested in Rice was back in August when the Cleveland Browns were looking for a back. But the team never admitted actually having any interest in Rice.

At 28-years-old, Rice should be in the prime of his career as a running back. However, he struggled in his last NFL action, which was back in 2013. That year he only recorded 660 yards on 214 carried and four touchdowns. He averaged just 3.1 yards per carry.

Taking his 2013 struggles into account, Rice is still better than a lot of running backs who see carried each and every week in the NFL. However, he would cause a circus and become a big distraction for any team brave enough to sign him. And that’s likely why Rice will never get another chance to play football in the NFL again.
