BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: If you're like me and love watching teams and prospects outside of College Football's Power 5 conferences, then Bailey Zappe had you hardcore advocating for his Heisman candidacy last year. Though the one-year Western Kentucky QB ended up going 137th overall on draft day to the New England Patriots, his statistics are off the charts. In 14 games last season, Zappe bulldozed through the record books, throwing for 5,967 yards, 62 touchdowns, and eleven interceptions on a 69.2% completion rate.
He performed well in the 2022 NFL preseason, but fell behind Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer on the depth chart. When Mac went down, and then Hoyer in last week's contest against Green Bay, Zappe was thrown into the mix, and got right back to his slinging ways, totaling 99 yards passing and one touchdown on ten completions out of 15 attempts. Even in getting sacked three times and losing a fumble, he avoided throwing a pick, converted at a solid rate and for solid yardage, and led a touchdown-drive in his first NFL regular season action. With Mac and Hoyer still sidelined for the time being, Bailey Zappe more than earned another opportunity to show that he is starter material for New England, and he could quickly make himself a dangerous addition in 2QB formats.
