Dominick Petrillo - RotoBaller

261 articles

Dominick Petrillo has been following college football and the NFL for as long as he can remember. From his first memory of the Philadelphia Eagles being the playoff game known as the Fog Bowl in Chicago, Dominick has been an avid fan of the game. Since 1999, Dominick has also been a yearly player of Fantasy Football and other fantasy sports. Even after going blind in 2012, Dominick continues to play Fantasy Football and follow the game. Writing about Fantasy Football and the game of football as a whole for more than seven years, Dominick uses his expertise to make sure you know the game and the players to make the best decisions weekly for your lineup. With his writing in College Football, he also makes sure you know the next batch of fantasy stars who will get drafted in upcoming NFL drafts. With accolades including Sports Illustrated, USA Today and the Philadelphia Eagles, Dominick has, as part of his time writing at The Athletic, been awarded with the Fantasy team for writing the best Fantasy Football Magazine in 2023. Dominick continues to work through his challenges with being blind with Rotoballer and is hoping to land a full-time position as a sportswriter very soon. Mid-Season Awards: MVP's and LVP's

When it comes to awards, everything is subjective. Some people just go with the best player at each position. That is fine in real football but not in fantasy football. Christian McCaffrey has had the best season as a running back, but as the first or second pick in drafts, he needed to do so […]

Warning Signs: Zach Ertz, David Johnson, Mitch Trubisky

Week 7 brought some new warnings our way. The Bears stink, or maybe just Mitch Trubisky. Todd Gurley still can’t get it going despite a dominant team performance. Finally, as has become a regular routine at this point, Will Fuller has another hamstring injury. So, what do we really need to pay attention to going […]

Week 7 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchups Analysis

Even if this doesn’t turn out to be great MNF game, at least it's a divisional game with some importance. This is what Jets fans need to tell themselves heading into their second Monday Night Football game of the season. With the New England Patriots coming to town off their annual semi-bye in which they […]

Is Stefon Diggs Really Back?

Weeks 1-5: 4.6 targets, 3.2 receptions, 50.6 yards per game, one touchdown. Week 6: 11 targets, eight receptions, 167 yards, three touchdowns. All of these numbers show a marked improvement on the season averages of Stefon Diggs in Minnesota. But, do they tell the whole story? Do they really signify that Diggs should be considered […]

Warning Signs: Todd Gurley, Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, Jared Goff

This is going to be a special edition of Warning Signs. Usually, we take a look at players from different teams who have disappointed thus far. This week, I am going to focus on a single team full of players to worry about. It is not good to have a team of big stars where […]

Week 6 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchups Analysis

This game is a matchup of the two top teams in the NFC North, by the standings at least. The key to this game will, of course be the offenses. Both the Lions and Packers come into this game boasting offenses which rank in the top half of the NFL and this game should be […]

DeAndre Hopkins: Is Nuk Still Atomic for Fantasy?

We have seen from DeAndre Hopkins an ability to be elite no matter who the quarterback is. This has been even more so the case with Deshaun Watson behind center in recent seasons. So, what has changed this year? Well. Nothing actually. While we are disappointed in the play of Hopkins this season, we really […]

Warning Signs: Stefon Diggs, Le'Veon Bell, Baker Mayfield

Another week, another surprising loss. At least this one did not take place on American soil. The Raiders took down the Bears in London, proving no one really knows what is going to happen any given week in the NFL. It also looks like there really is no dominant team in the NFC. This works for […]

Don't Let Me Down - What to Do with Disappointing Offenses

The key to drafting a quality fantasy team is to find players on high-powered offenses and draft them. By doing this, you give yourself a piece of good teams who should score a lot. But what if it all goes wrong? What if teams with high expectations like the Vikings, Browns and Texans disappoint? All […]

Week 5 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchups Analysis

Finally, a decent Monday night game. Well, at least on paper. The Cleveland Browns come across the entire country from Baltimore to take on a 49ers team coming off a bye. Pretty unfair but it is the NFL, so it is par for the course. San Francisco is undefeated at 3-0 despite George Kittle not […]

Warning Signs: Week 4 Review

What a week it was. Not only did the Browns finally look like the team we expected, there were also numerous upsets all around the league. Don’t worry survivor pool participants - the Dolphins didn’t win. It wasn't that crazy of a week. But things were for sure crazy. The fact the Raiders, Panthers, Buccaneers, […]

Week 4 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchups Analysis

Nothing like saving the worst game of the week for last. In another forgettable matchup of winless teams, the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Pittsburgh to take on the almost as bad Steelers and Mason Rudolph. If I were ESPN at this point, I would be asking for a refund from the NFL. Or at least a […]

Warning Signs: Week 3 Review

As we approach Week 4, warning signs are starting to become alarming for some and false alarms for others. If we evaluate what we really need to worry about and what we don’t, it will allow us to improve the state of our fantasy teams. Were you worried about Mike Evans after two weeks? How […]

Week 3 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchups Analysis

Well, it's back to the dregs of Monday Night Football games. It's gotten to the point where this game is nearly as bad as the Thursday night game, and something needs to be done about the scheduling. But until that happens, we are stuck with bad games each and every week, and this one is […]

The Antonio Brown Effect in New England

Life gives us many questions to ponder. What is the meaning of life? If time heals all wounds, how do you explain belly buttons? And the age-old question from the Spitballs podcast, would you rather have to give up ride-share services the rest of your life or food-delivery services? But for our purposes here and […]

Warning Signs: Week 2 Review

With Week 2 in the books, it is clearer what to be afraid of and what was a one-week fluke. David Montgomery the number two behind Mike Davis? Fluke. Oakland Raiders a good team? Fluke. But now it is time to turn to the situations which are seemingly staying the same. We need to find […]

Week 2 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchups Analysis

Last season started with bad game after bad game on Monday Night Football. If last week was a sign, this season should be much better in terms of both gameplay and announcing. Thank goodness for both. This week, the matchup pits an underperforming Cleveland Browns team traveling east to New Jersey to take on the […]

Warning Signs: Week 1 Review

Obviously, we cannot overreact too much to Week 1 of the football season. This said, the first installment of this series may be a little shorter than normal. Just because Mitchell Trubisky looks bad as a quarterback doesn’t mean you should drop him now and find someone else. So what if the Dolphins gave up […]

Week 1 Start/Sit: Monday Night Football Matchup Analysis

Like every season, we have a double-header to start Week 1 of Monday Night Football. And like every season, one of those games involves the Raiders. But we will get to their game second. The first game of the night will pit a new-look Houston Texans team against the New Orleans Saints. We will have […]

Updated Tight End Draft Rankings for Half-PPR Scoring

Ah, the tight end position. Other than the kicker and defenses, the least useful position in fantasy football. But alas, it is a necessary position so we need to look at it. Of course, here we will be talking about typical single-TE leagues with no scoring premium. So, you really have to decide whether or […]

LeSean McCoy to Kansas City: Fantasy Fallout

In the aftermath of the surprising release of LeSean McCoy, which no one was surprised about, the Chiefs gained a valuable insurance policy. There are many moves which can be made to surprise us. Houston made a few of them in one day on Saturday. But this release was seen coming from space like the […]

The Perfect Pair - Finding a QB1 Duo

Whether you subscribe to the best quarterback philosophy or the late-round quarterback philosophy, we are having the same goal in mind. We want the players most likely to get us the win, on a week-to-week basis as well as the season-long championship. The likes of Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers will help you for sure. But at […]

Devin Singletary (RB, BUF) - Rookie Running Back Draft Values

BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~80 Overall Current ADP: ~120 ANALYSIS: Is this the year for Devin Singletary? It is hard to say for sure, but with LeSean McCoy out of the way, it very well could be. One thing we know is the Buffalo Bills are preparing for the future. A future with Josh Allen at […]

Dominick Petrillo's 2019 Blind Dart Throws

I have never been a huge fan of spicy food. So, instead of spicy takes, I am going to compare my bold predictions to throwing blindly at a dartboard and hoping for a few bullseyes. It seems like an appropriate analogy anyway. Anyone standing nearby better watch out! Don’t get me wrong, these will still […]

Wide Receiver Draft Rankings - Standard Scoring

The first pick in fantasy drafts is always the elite running back. Whether it be in PPR leagues or standard, this is the case and for good reason. It is important to have an elite running back when they are available. But this doesn’t mean you should forget about the wide receiver position. Sure, it […]

Running Back Standard Rankings for Fantasy Football Drafts

Running backs don’t matter. This may or may not be true in the real NFL but in fantasy, it surely isn’t the case. If it were the case, why are the top four consensus players all at the position? It is always great to have one of the top guys at the position. But if […]

Indianapolis Colts 2019 Outlook: Out of Luck

The Andrew Luck era is over for Indianapolis. I only have one word to say about how I feel about Luck calling it a career: Respect. No anger. No malice. Just Respect. While some players cry about player safety yet do nothing about it, Luck took a stand and realized his life was most important. […]

Lamar Jackson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Don't Sleep on These Quarterbacks

Take’em high and let’em fly. Sit and wait. These are both options to play when looking at the quarterback position in fantasy football. Is the high draft pick used on Patrick Mahomes worth it when looking at who else you could have taken? If you think so, then this article is not for you. But […]

Team Defense (D/ST) Draft Sleepers

Football is a fickle game. NFL defenses can be the same. A defense can be good one year and not so good the next. The common sentiment is the need to get rid of defenses in fantasy football. While this much like the kicker, debate is a good thought, it has not happened yet. Until […]

Is the Next Tom Brady Out There?

In what has been described as a lackluster rookie quarterback class, there is really not a lot of value beyond the top couple of picks in dynasty leagues. But we know there are always hidden gems and players that take us by surprise. Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins and maybe Daniel Jones will get plenty of starting time […]
