David Irving Suspended for Four Games

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving was suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He won't be able to take the field until the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans. Irving failed a test and served a four-game suspension in 2017 as well. Entering a contract year, Irving […]

Rico Gathers Mostly Works as a Blocker in OTAs

Dallas Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers reportedly "didn't get many chances" to catch passes during organized team activities. Gathers worked mostly as a blocking tight end, and it seemed like the team had him focusing on that aspect of tight end play instead of as a more fantasy-relevant pass-catching tight end. Gathers has been a […]

Trevor Bauer Has Another Strong Start on Monday

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer had another excellent start on Monday, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out eight. This is finally the Trevor Bauer that fantasy owners have been trying to draft for a few years now. Monday's win was his sixth and he lowered his […]

Jason Kipnis Has a Big Game on Monday

Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis had a great game on Monday, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run and two singles. He scored two runs and drove in another two. The homer was Kipnis' fifth and the RBI were his 26th and 27th. Despite the big game, Kipnis is still hitting just .207 with a […]

Miles Mikolas Allows Four Runs in Five Innings on Monday

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas allowed four runs on six hits and a walk in five innings on Monday. He ended up with a no decision on the night, as the Phillies won in the 10th inning. Mikolas has hit a bit of a bump in the road, but he's still been more […]

Yadier Molina Hits a Homer and a Double on Monday

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina had a great game on Monday, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. He scored twice and also drew a walk. Molina was in a bit of a slump after coming off the disabled list, but Monday's strong game brought his batting average up to .273. He […]

Greg Allen Optioned to Triple-A on Monday

Cleveland Indians outfielder Greg Allen was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Monday. With Yonder Alonso returning from the family medical emergency list, Allen heads back to Columbus to make room. He only has one hit in his last 33 at bats, so Cleveland likely wants him to get some consistent at bats so he can […]

Cleveland Signs Marc Rzepczynski

The Cleveland Indians signed relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski to a minor league contract on Monday. He was assigned to Triple-A Columbus. Rzepczynski was released by Seattle after struggling to a 9.39 ERA. He's been a solid lefty specialist in previous seasons, however, and should be able to contribute to the Cleveland bullpen soon.

Yonder Alonso Back on the Active Roster on Monday

Cleveland Indians first baseman Yonder Alonso was activated from the family medical emergency list on Monday. Alonso missed the weekend series against the Twins, but is back for the start of the week. Greg Allen was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Alonso on the active roster.

Melky Cabrera Elects Free Agency

Outfielder Mekly Cabrera elected free agency rather than taking an assignment to Triple-A Columbus with the Cleveland Indians. Cabrera signed a minor league deal with Cleveland but struggled to a .207/.242/.293 batting line and was designated for assignment. He'll hope to latch on as depth with another organization, but might have a hard time finding […]

Luke Voit Optioned to Triple-A on Monday

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Luke Voit was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Monday. Voit was up for the weekend series against the Cubs while Jose Martinez was on the paternity leave list. With Martinez returning to the active roster, Voit will return to his starting role in Triple-A.

Jose Martinez Activated from the Paternity List

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Jose Martinez was activated from the paternity list on Monday. He was out for the weekend series against the Cubs to attend to his daughter's birth in Venezuela. Luke Voit was taking his place on the roster and will be optioned back to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Carlos Carrasco's Elbow Tests Return Encouraging Results

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco underwent tests on his elbow and had everything come back negative. Carrasco had to leave Saturday's start after he was hit by a line drive, but it seems he has avoided any serious injury. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list, and it seems he should be ready […]

Jack Flaherty Throws Five Shutout Innings on Sunday

St. Louis Cardinals rookie starting pitcher Jack Flaherty tossed five scoreless innings on Sunday, allowing just two hits and three walks. He struck out seven. Flaherty didn't get the win, but his team did, as five pitchers combined to shut out the Cubs. Flaherty lowered his ERA to 2.66 and continues to be a must-start […]

Shane Bieber Allows a Hit Parade but Only One Run

Cleveland Indians rookie starting pitcher Shane Bieber missed a quality start by one out, pitching 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run, but 10 hits and a walk. He struck out seven. Bieber was able to pitch around trouble, but 10 hits and a walk is certainly not a sustainable way to get outs. Bieber […]

Jason Kipnis Out of the Lineup on Sunday

Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis is not in Sunday's starting lineup. He's only 2-for-14 since returning from a neck injury, so Sunday is likely a day off to try to get him right. It's been a struggle all season for Kipnis, who may start losing more playing time if Erik Gonzalez continues to play […]

Cody Allen Saves His 13th Game on Thursday

Cleveland Indians closer Cody Allen collected his 13th save of the season on Thursday, recording three strikeouts in a scoreless inning. He did allow a single, but the runner was unable to come around to score. Allen hasn't been perfect this season as shown by his 4.03 ERA, but he's 13-for-14 in save chances and […]

Mike Clevinger Works Seven Strong Innings on Thursday

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Mike Clevinger pitched well on Thursday, allowing two runs (only one earned) on five hits and a walk. He struck out 11 on the afternoon and improved to 5-2. His ERA dropped to 3.15 and he now holds an 80:30 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He's been one of the most pleasant surprises in […]

MLB Closers and Saves Report - Week 12

This week was a much quieter one than last week, at least as far as bullpens around baseball are concerned. While last week saw committee members take over their bullpens at the same time as other committees formed in other cities, this week mostly saw more of the same. The guys who did well last […]

David Irving Hoping to Drop Some Weight Before Week 1

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving said he weighs 303 pounds right now, but wants to drop to around 285 pounds before the season starts. Irving went on to say he wants to get back to how he looked when he "was doing that underwear modeling and stuff. Got to get those abs back." Irving […]

Terrance Williams Expected to Be Ready for Training Camp

According to head coach Jason Garrett, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams (foot) is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp. Williams has been recovering from a broken foot that he suffered during the offseason. Unrelated to his injury, Williams was involved in a strange incident that included his arrest and a […]

Brandon Guyer Activated from the Disabled List on Thursday

Cleveland Indians outfielder Brandon Guyer (neck) was activated from the disabled list on Thursday. Melky Cabrera was designated for assignment in order to make room on the roster. Guyer missed three weeks because of a neck strain and should return to his usual role as a platoon player. He's been struggling this year, posting a […]

Melky Cabrera Designated for Assignment on Thursday

Cleveland Indians outfielder Melky Cabrera was designated for assignment on Thursday. With Brandon Guyer (neck) returning from the disabled list, Cabrera was no longer needed. Cabrera signed a minor league deal with Cleveland and struggled to do anything after getting called up, slashing just .207/.242/.293 without a home run in 66 plate appearances. He'll look […]

Luke Weaver Gives Up Four Runs Again

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Luke Weaver allowed four runs for the second start in a row on Wednesday. He ended up pitching 5 1/3 innings, coughing up nine hits and a walk while striking out four. Weaver took the loss, dropping his record to 3-6. He looked like he was coming out of a […]

Michael Brantley Smacks Three Hits on Wednesday

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley recorded three singles on Wednesday, finishing 3-for-5 with a run scored. Brantley lifted his batting average to .322 and his OPS to .894. Brantley has always had this type of upside, but he couldn't stay on the field. He's been mostly healthy this year and is returning excellent value to […]

Trevor Bauer Pitches Well But Takes a Loss on Wednesday

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer pitched well enough to pick up a quality start on Wednesday, but his offense did him no favors and he ended up taking a loss. Bauer tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 12. Bauer nearly ended up with a […]

Greg Holland Moving His Rehab to Double-A

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Greg Holland (hip) will move his rehab to Double-A Springfield. It's essentially a demotion for Holland, who was struggling to throw strikes at the Triple-A level. He's been an absolute disaster on the mound since the second he signed a one-year, $14 million contract on Opening Day. Holland will have […]

Luke Voit To Be Called Up on Friday

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Luke Voit will be called up on Friday to occupy the roster spot of Jose Martinez, who will be placed on the paternity list. Martinez will miss the weekend series, so Voit is likely only going to be with the big club for a few games. Voit has gone 2-for-4 […]

Andrew Miller Throws Another Bullpen Session

Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Andrew Miller (knee) threw another bullpen session on Wednesday. It was his third bullpen session in the past six days, indicating that he should be almost ready for a return to the mound. He may require a brief rehab stint in the minor leagues, or the team could determine that he […]

Lonnie Chisenhall Out of the Lineup on Wednesday

Cleveland Indians outfielder Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game. It's a routine day off for Chisenhall, who hasn't had one in over a week. He's been solid since returning from the disabled list, hitting .333 in 27 at-bats so far. He hasn't shown much power yet, but he's been able […]
