Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery on Tuesday. The 29-year-old apparently felt some discomfort in his groin while skating with teammates on Monday ahead of training camp opening up later this week. Hayes is coming off a 2020-2021 campaign in which he posted 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists), a minus-two rating, nine power-play points, 127 shots and 60 hits in 55 games. Expect rookie Morgan Frost, who missed most of last season with his own injury, to get an extended look up the middle in the Flyers top-six forward group during training camp.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller
