DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (7/29/21): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 7/29/21. Brian Entrekin's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We have a 5-game main slate on tap tonight, and it's a messy one. There are some potential weather concerns with Toronto/Boston looking really nasty. The pitching is not that great, especially not knowing if Peralta is a full go or not. We may get a return of Dylan Bundy if Alex Cobb continues to have his blister issues, so that's a plus. It is going to be a wild night with a small slate, so buckle up.

The slate starts with which pitchers to build around. Do you trust Peralta, go with Montas in a "good spot," or go YOLO with some value arms. The best game to target involves two of my personal favorites in the Tigers and Orioles when it comes to bats. Then you can mix and match a few others like the Padres and potentially the sneaky Rockies. It is an odd slate, and you will have to pay close attention to weather and news. For a full slate, rundown listen into MLB DFS Quick Hits.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 7/29/2021. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also check out today's FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Frankie Montas - P, OAK at LAA ($9,000)

Montas has begun to look more and more like the ace he was supposed to be in recent years. Over the past five games, Montas has thrown five or more innings in each start, throwing six or more innings three straight starts. He has not allowed more than three runs in any of the starts and only did that once, in his last start. Montas has struck out 35 batters over his 29.1 innings pitched, including 27 in his last three starts. He is locked in right now and will face an Angels team striking out nearly 22% of the team versus RHP in the last month with a .264 average and 103 wRC+. Montas has faced the Angels twice this year and has thrown 12.2 innings, allowing two earned runs, and striking out 15. Tonight's pitching is rough, and Montas becomes one of the top plays in a nice AL West matchup.

Chad Kuhl - P, PIT vs. MIL ($6,400)

Kuhl has been quite serviceable over the last month or so. In his last six starts, going back to June 18, Kuhl has thrown at least five innings in five starts and allowed three earned runs or less in each start. He allowed one earned run or less in four of the starts. Kuhl is also doing ok with the strikeouts, with 30 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched with six or more K's in three starts. He is hit and miss when it comes to strikeouts, which is obviously important for our DK scoring. He has faced the Brewers twice this season with one good start and one not-so-good start but did strike out eight in his 8.1 total innings pitched. Tonight he will face a Brewers team striking out 25% of the time versus RHP over the last month. Hopefully, a good sign for Kuhl tonight, which would make him an outstanding value this evening.

Other Options: Freddy Peralta (MIL at PIT) $10,000, Hyun-Jin Ryu (TOR at BOS) $8,600, Joe Musgrove (SD vs. COL) $8,200

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Eric Haase - C, DET vs. Alexander Wells ($4,900)

Haase has been quite the revelation this season, and he comes into tonight's game absolutely raking. He has hit safely in nine straight games and will look to extend that in a juicy matchup versus Wells and the O's bullpen. Over the last nine games, Haase is batting .281 with four home runs and 14 RBI, always stuffing the stat sheet. In addition, he has a .438 ISO and is walking 11.1% of the time to support a 1.08 OPS. On the season, Haase is hitting .319 with a .403 ISO and should increase on those numbers tonight versus Wells.

Trey Mancini - 1B, BAL at Casey Mize ($5,200)

Trey Boo Boo has been absolutely mashing of late. Trey brings a 10 game hitting streak into tonight's game which has seen multiple hits in six of the ten games. Trey has eight extra-base hits over the stretch, including three home runs. He is mashing to the tune of a .366 ISO, 1.188OPS with a 21.2% barrel rate and 57.6% hard-hit rate. Mancini is locked in right now and will face Mize for a few innings before the ball is passed to the Tigers' bullpen. Tonight is another great spot for Trey and should be in heavy consideration for your DET/BAL game stacks.

Ryan McMahon - 2B/3B, COL at Joe Musgrove ($3,500)

The Rockies are my sneaky stack tonight, and McMahon would be one of the pieces at his deflated price tag. McMahon has come out of the break swinging it well and brings an eight-game hitting streak into tonight's game. He has three extra-base hits to go with his .920 OPS and 145 wRC+. He is locked in right now, and it really shows as he is striking out 13.9% of the time while walking an impressive 16.7% walk rate. He will face Musgrove tonight, who has allowed four or more runs in three of his last five starts while allowing LHH to SLG .383 with nearly 1.5 HR/9. The Rockies were swinging it well in Anaheim and will look to continue in San Diego tonight.

Fernando Tatis Jr. - SS, SD vs. Kyle Freeland ($5,900)

Usually, I don't particularly appreciate writing up guys like Tatis as it is captain obvious stuff, but the SS position is not that great tonight. It becomes especially rough if BOS/TOR gets rained out. There is value to be had in the Tigers and Orioles game, but I can't write about them everywhere, so here we are with Tatis. One of the best hitters in baseball this season. Mashing everything, stealing all the bases, and rocking a home run chain like not many outside of Pete Alonso can. On the season, Tatis has a .333 ISO versus LHP with a 31% HR/FB. Pray for Freeland tonight against this Padres team.

Jeimer Candelario - 3B, DET vs Alexander Wells  ($4,300)

The Candy Man has come out of the all-star break swinging a hot bat. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, good for a .304 average. He has eight extra-base hits over the stretch to go with a .261 ISO and a .972 OPS. Candelario's plate discipline is impressive, with a 14.8% walk rate going with a 14.8% strikeout rate. The switch-hitting Candelario is getting it done on both sides of the plate, but the season is hitting .290 versus LHP with a .419 SLG. Candy should be in all your Tigers stacks tonight and makes for nice cash gameplay at 3B as well.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Akil Baddoo - OF, DET vs. Alexander Wells ($3,800)

Sorry, I know I write about Baddoo too much, but the dude continues to rake, and his price tag is not that bad. He brings a five-game hitting streak into tonight's game, where he has multiple hits in three games. He has five extra-base hits, including two home runs to go with a .391 ISO. His plate discipline has always been a thing of beauty, and that has continued by striking out only 12% of the time over the five-game stretch. He has a 1.139 OPS over the five games to go with a 10% barrel rate and 45% hard-hit rate. Baddoo is absolutely locked in right now, and leading off for the Tigers has been a run-scoring machine. He has even been hitting lefties fine, so that argument is void. Baddoo is a strong cash game play as well as a must in Tigers stacks tonight.

Sam Hilliard- OF, COL at Joe Musgrove ($2,400)

Yeah, I know. Hilliard? Well, I did a double-take, too, and he is hitting of late. Hilliard has hit safely in three of his last six games, with two home runs and a .353 ISO. Oh, and all six games were not in Coors Field. He has also shown great plate skills walking 15% of the time, contributing to a solid 1.047 OPS. He is barreling the ball 25% of the time with a nice 41.7% hard-hit rate when he has made contact over the last six games. We have seen Hilliard have many big games before, and he seems to be swinging it well of late. If looking for some super low-rostered value tonight, Hilliard could be your guy.

George Springer - OF, TOR at Eduardo Rodriguez ($5,300)

I am gonna keep writing about Springer as he continues to just beast out. Springer has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games with eight extra-base hits, including four home runs. He has a .432 ISO, a 1.199 OPS, and has scored 11 runs over this stretch. He is absolutely locked in, and as the Jays lead-off bat, he gains even more fantasy value. ERod left his last start with a migraine and has struggled quite a bit versus the Jays this season. I am not in love with fading ERod, but Springer should be one of your top choices tonight if you do.
