The Texas Rangers used the second pick of the second round of the 2021 Draft to select outfielder Aaron Zavala out of Oregon. After being named Oregon's 6A Player of the Year in 2018, Zavala hit .418 during a pandemic-shortened freshman season in 2020, and he showed it was no fluke by slashing .392/.525/.628 in 2021 for the Ducks. Zavala has shown that he can consistently make contact while swinging and missing at very few pitches. He's played at third base and outfield, but scouts seem to think outfield is where he will stick long term. Zavala is an intriguing name to keep an eye on, and if he can continue to develop some power he could find his way to the majors fairly quickly.--MichaelRead More News
