New York Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes will take the mound Friday against the Houston Astros. Cortes has largely pitched as a long reliever out of the bullpen but has been excellent in that role, pitching to a 1.29 ERA across 21 innings with a 29:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The southpaw will face a tough test on Friday against Houston, who owns the highest team OPS and lowest strikeout rate in the majors. Cortes should be avoided in this matchup, though he could earn himself a few more spot starts should he perform solidly against the formidable Astros lineup.--Tim Capurso
