DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (2/16/21): NBA DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on February 16, 2021. Euan Leith provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! The lords of the NBA schedule have deemed this day worthy of another massive six-game slate. It would've been seven games, but the San Antonio-Detroit game was postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test. Still, the six games offer up many options to build our best DFS lineups on Tuesday night.

Last week in daily fantasy was marred by a myriad of late scratches. It cost many a manager their finish in the money. So, you must keep checking lineups throughout the evening. There could be some breaking news that opens up a tremendous value pivot to launch you into or out of a win on any given night.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 2/16/21. You can also check out today's FanDuel lineup picks. With COVID-19 a significant factor, remember to monitor injury news as the slate can completely change before lineups lock.

DraftKings DFS Guards

Kyrie Irving - PG/SG, BKN at PHO ($9,100)

Irving is finally getting into the flow of the season, and it's producing fantastic fantasy results. The six-time All-Star spoke over the weekend about giving the point guard role to James Harden, which seems to be paying off for the entire Nets team. Over his last six games, Irving is averaging 27.5 points, 5.7 assists, 4.2 boards, and 2.2 threes per contest. Last night, he was unconscious from beyond the three-point line making nine of his 11 attempts and racking up 56.5 DraftKings fantasy points. The second time in the last three games, he eclipsed 55 DKFP, and both of those games were without Kevin Durant in the lineup.

Jamal Murray - PG, DEN at BOS ($7,200)

Before this weekend, Jamal Murray was in a bit of a slump. From Jan. 25 to Feb. 10, the 23-year old was averaging a low 15 points per game with 4.4 assists and four rebounds. Fortunately, he turned it around over the weekend and rebounded with back-to-back night with at least 20 points for the first time since Jan. 3. Will Barton (personal) will miss tonight's game versus the Celtics, and Monte Morris (shoulder) is questionable. Their absences will leave a more significant workload for Murray to carry against Boston, and he will provide an instrumental fantasy outing. Recently, Boston is in a bit of a defensive slump. They've lost three of four, and Donovan Mitchell (36 points) and Bradley Beal (35 points) torched this team in two of those previous four games.

Anthony Edwards - SG/SF, LAL at MIN ($6,000)

Since moving into the starting lineup on Jan. 29, Edwards has become an intriguing play in DFS. Over those previous 10 games, the rookie is averaging 16.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and two triples while playing 31.5 minutes and taking 14.8 shots. Although the Lakers are one of the most formidable defenses in the league to match up with, there is always room for fantasy production on any given night. With Jarrett Culver (ankle) and D'Angelo Russell (leg) both out, there will be a larger share of the work heading Edward's way against the current champs. He's tallied at least 32 DKFP in four of his last five games, and another outing like that would provide the much sought-after five-times value on his $6,000 salary.

DraftKings DFS Forwards

Pascal Siakam - PF/C, TOR at MIL ($8,100)

Siakam's ability to contribute in every category gives him a concrete fantasy floor that any DFS manager can build around. His recent play, primarily, has produced some of his best statistical night of the season. Over his previous six tilts, the fifth-year forward has averaged 24.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, two triples, 1.8 steals, and one block in 36.1 minutes. Even on a night where he shot 6-for-19 from the floor, the 26-year old tallied 42 DKFP. The Raptors-Bucks matchup features the highest over/under on the slate (236 points), and if I can't fit Giannis Antetokounmpo in my lineup, Siakam is a perfect pivot.

Kyle Anderson - SF/PF, MEM at NO ($6,400)

Anderson has rebounded after a rough end to January and has put together a lovely stretch of performances as the calendar turned to February. Over his last five games, the 27-year is averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, four assists, 1.8 steals, 1.2 blocks, and 2.6 triples. Even on down nights, Anderson's contributions in the categories outside of points have returned to him starting staus in DFS lineups. The seventh-year forward averages 30.5 fantasy points per game on the season, but that's perked up to 35.7 FPPG in those last five games. The Pelicans allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing small forwards, and Anderson is in a prime spot tonight.

Carmelo Anthony - PF, POR at OKC ($5,400)

We've officially reached the "Is Carmelo back?" portion of the season, and his recent performances have made it a valid question. In his 18th season, the veteran is providing 18.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.5  dimes, 1.3 blocks, and 2.7 threes in his last six games. He's topped 32 DKFP in three of six matchups and will have a chance to make it four in seven against a depleted Thunder unit on Tuesday. OKC is a bottom-five team in rebounding this season and is dead-last in offensive-rebounding rate. With Rodney Hood (foot), C.J. McCollum (foot), Jusuf Nurkic (wrist), and Harry Giles (calf) all watching from the bench for the Trail Blazers, Melo is one of the last-men standing and at $5,400 is a staple value play in my lineups.

Other Options: Juan Toscano-Anderson - SF/PF, GS at SA ($5,000)

DraftKings DFS Centers

Montrezl Harrell - C, LAL at MIN ($6,200)

Harrell is a likely chalk candidate on Tuesday with his All-Star teammate, Anthony Davis (calf), hitting the injury list. However, not all chalk is bad chalk, and I believe Harrell has considerable upside against the Timberwolves. Harrell has three games this season with at least 30 minutes of action, and two of those came last week when AD was nursing the injury that has now seen him sidelined. In those three contests, the 2019-20 Sixth Man of the Year averaged 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 74.2 percent from the floor. Against a Minnesota team ranking second-worst in rebound rate this season, Harrell has a massive opportunity for a double-double performance as LeBron James looks for a running mate to replace Davis.
