Drew Pomeranz Mows Down Giants In Surprise Save
Drew Pomeranz collected a save Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants, striking out the side. With closer Kirby Yates sidelined after tossing 28 pitches on Sunday, Pomeranz needed just 14 bullets to mow down the Giants in order. After converting to reliever last season, Pomeranz was spectacular with a .504 OPS against. He’s off to an excellent start, firing three hitless innings with six strikeouts and a walk. Yates is the Friars primary closer but with reliever Emilio Pagan scuffling, Pomeranz is next man up. He should be universally rostered in holds leagues and deserves a look in standard formats to anchor ratios and strikeouts.
