Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Probable For Opening Day
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (side) is not in the lineup for the team’s exhibition contest versus the Red Sox on Tuesday, but he will take batting practice beforehand. Manager Charlie Montoyo said if he “feels good” after that, he could see the 26-year-old being ready for Opening Day on Friday. Gurriel experienced discomfort in his left side over the weekend, but if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks this week, he’ll be locked in as the team’s three-hole hitter against Charlie Morton and the Rays on the 24th. Batting in the middle of a lineup oozing with potential upside, Gurriel makes an excellent mid-round draft target.
