Josh Jacobs Needs To “Earn” Starting Role
Josh Jacobs will not simply be handed the starting duties as the team’s lead running back. He comes into camp as the odds-on favorite but Gruden stated that he has to “be one tough guy and do it down after down when you are tired.” From a fantasy perspective, we’d like to see him not only earn the starting role but be an every-down back. Veteran Doug Martin will challenge Jacobs for reps, and Jalen Richard figures to contribute primarily as a pass-catcher, so it’s likely the first-round rookie will earn a significant role with the offense this season. Jacob’s stock will likely only grow throughout the preseason and is a sure-fire RB2 in fantasy.
