Taylor Heinicke Getting MRI
Taylor Heinicke (elbow) is undergoing an MRI exam on his left elbow on Monday, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Heinicke left the game for a bit in Week 16 against the Falcons after being injured, but he returned and finished the game. He was predictably inconsistent and went 33-for-53 for 274 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the loss. In a meaningless Week 17 game against the Saints, the Panthers won't rush him out there, depending on the results of the MRI. If Heinicke doesn't play, rookie Kyle Allen would receive his first career start. Cam Newton (shoulder) has already been shut down for the season.
