Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chad Kuhl tossed seven innings of shutout, one-hit baseball on Sunday, guiding his team to a 9-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The start was easily his best of 2018, as he walked just two batters and struck out eight. After surrendering a single to Domingo Santana in the second inning, Kuhl allowed only two of the next 18 batters to reach base. The performance lowered his ERA to 4.12 and upped his strikeout rate to a solid 21.8 percent. Paired with a 7.2 percent walk rate, Kuhl has taken encouraging steps early in his third season. However, he needs to show more consistency to become a viable fantasy pitcher in anything but deep leagues. He'll take the mound again next weekend against the San Francisco Giants.--Matt Wilkes
