Denard Span With Rare Bout of Power Sunday Versus Philadelphia
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Denard Span showed off some power Sunday versus Philadelphia. He led off the bottom of the first inning by hitting a solo HR. It was his first homer of the season. He would end up going 2-for-4 with a walk. The walk came with the bases loaded to drive in his second run of the game. He now has 10 RBI to go with a .360 OBP. Span comes with some positives. The reports say he will hit leadoff on occasion. Span is coming off a 2017 season where he batted .272 with 12 home runs and 12 steals. As long as he gets to 450 plate appearances, he should serve as a steady and safe fourth or fifth outfielder in a 12-team mixed league.
