NBA Waiver Wire (Week 18): H2H Offensive Category Streamers

It's never too early to start streaming. Whether you have an opening due to an injury, you auction-drafted a crew of stars and scrubs, or you just didn't bother putting any effort into your last couple draft picks, you probably have a player or two on your team who isn't must-own. You're better off using that roster spot to stream players to eke out wins in close categories in your weekly head-to-head matchups.

This year, RotoBaller will be making weekly recommendations for extreme short term category specialists every week in all six counting stat categories (points, assists, threes, rebounds, steals, and blocks).

Below are my Week 18 offensive category streamers for fantasy basketball - points, threes, and assists are below. All position eligibility and ownership percentages are based on Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Three Points Made Streamer

Jamal Murray, SG, DEN, Opponents: Thursday @ SAC, Friday vs. BKN, Sunday vs. MEM (26% Owned)

Murray put the world on notice, showing off his talent to knock down triples with ease and bringing home the MVP for the Rising Stars Challenge during the All-Star Break. Coming into the ASB, the Kentucky product has put up 14.7 points and 3.0 triples on 45.5 percent from the field in his last three games. Although, he looks much better with Emmanuel Mudiay (back) out. With the possibility of Denver trading their young point guard, there could be hold value for rest of the season for Murray. The Nuggets are one of four teams that have three remaining games in the week, so the volume will at least be there as a streaming target in the least.

Terrence Ross will debut for his new squad on Thursday, but is worthy of an add for the rest of the week with his ability to provide threes and steals. C.J. Miles has been doing it all season and if you’re looking for strictly threes, then he’s a good option. Tony Snell does the same thing as Miles, but has a lower ceiling for threes, so deep leaguers can jump on him for treys in the second half of the week.

Other Options: Terrence Ross, SG/SF, ORL (24% Owned); C.J. Miles, SG/SF, IND (24% Owned); Tony Snell, SG/SF, MIL (3% Owned);

Points Streamer

E’Twaun Moore, PG/SG, NOP, Opponents: Thursday vs. HOU, Saturday @ DAL, Sunday @ OKC (6% Owned)

With Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and Buddy Hield in Sacramento, the Pelicans are left thin for their guard rotation. Moore held deep league value when Evans was out earlier in the season, averaging 10.9 points and 1.0 threes on 44.5 percent from the field on 10.1 attempts in the first month. He makes a logical speculative pickup to hold down some additional guard minutes as the Pelicans will be in desperate need of his perimeter shooting. Additionally, the Pelicans have three more games to finish off Week 17, which should make him a hold candidate at least until the end of the week.

Michael Beasley has been great for the Bucks with Jabari Parker (ACL) out and should put up good scoring numbers, even in limited minutes. Like most of the other players on the list, Marreese Speights has a three-game week. Since Blake Griffin’s return, he hasn’t put up great offensive numbers, but he’s a decent player to roll the dice on if you need the extra points with serviceable percentages and potential for a couple threes. Marco Belinelli and Jeremy Lamb also have three game weeks and are viable options in deeper formats if you need the scoring.

Other Options: Marreesse Speights, PF/C, LAC (11% Owned); Michael Beasley, SF/PF, MIL (24% Owned); Marco Belinelli, SG/SF, CHA (10% Owned); Jeremy Lamb, SG/SF, CHA (3% Owned);

Assists Streamer

Jameer Nelson, PG, DEN, Opponents: Thursday @ SAC, Friday vs. BKN, Sunday vs. MEM (27% Owned)

Jameer Nelson should be the biggest beneficiary if the Nuggets can find a buyer for Emmanuel Mudiay. Even if they don’t, Mudiay (back) should be limited in his first game after missing six straight games. Nelson has held down serious value as the full-time starter for Mike Malone, averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 3.0 treys on 52.9 percent from the field on 12.8 attempts over his last four games. The Nuggets are sitting in a playoff spot and could lean on their veteran point guard down the stretch to help get them there. He’s a good speculative add ahead of the deadline and should have value for the rest of the week as the Nuggets have three games in the late week.

Speaking of speculative adds, Tim Frazier is probably a bit more of a gamble this week, but could payoff since we know he can distribute the ball as a primary ballhandler. If he’s in your league, he could probably be added until we know how Alvin Gentry’s guard rotations will turn out. Derrick Rose has been tied to a few trade rumors, so Brandon Jennings could be a good speculative add for the week with ability to provide low-end assists even if Rose stays put. Lastly, Matthew Dellavedova is still the starting point guard in Milwaukee, and has put up some solid assist numbers since returning to the starting unit.

Other Options: Tim Frazier, PG, NOP (34% Owned); Brandon Jennings, PG, NYK (17% Owned); Matthew Dellavedova, PG/SG, MIL (21% Owned);
