If you own Marshawn Lynch in any fantasy football leagues, I hope you have Thomas Rawls on your roster as well because it doesn’t sound like Beast Mode will be able to help you anymore this season.
On Wednesday morning Lynch had sports hernia surgery and is expected to miss “about a month,” according to Fox Sports. And most people believe Lynch will miss even more time than that. Houston Texans running back Arian Foster missed eight weeks with the same injury this summer.
All this means that Lynch can safely be released from redraft leagues. This also means that Thomas Rawls instantly becomes an every week RB2 in all fantasy football formats.
Through seven games Lynch has 417 yards on 111 carries for an average of 3.8 yards per carry. He also has three touchdowns. However, Rawls has played great when given an opportunity. He has 604 rushing yards on 101 carries for an average of six yards per carry and two touchdowns on the ground. Rawls also has one receiving touchdown.
The St. Louis Rams received horrific news on Tuesday when it was announced that receiver Stedman Baily had been shot in the head and hip in South Florida. Bailey was reportedly a passenger in a car that was driven by his cousin. Bailey also had two younger relatives in the vehicle.
Bailey was shot twice in the head and is reportedly in critical, but stable, condition. Bailey’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this point, but he is scheduled for surgery.
Bailey’s football career may be over following this accident, but nobody should be concerned with that at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bailey and his family. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.
In other news, former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder is working out for the Denver Broncos. With future hall of famer Peyton Manning out for at least a couple more weeks, the team would like to add some more depth to the quarterback position.
Brock Osweiler will continue to start in Manning absence and rookie Trevor Siemian will back him up, but Ponder would give the team a much nicer option than Siemian if something were to happen to Osweiler.
The more important question is: if Osweiller keeps winning, will the team bench him for a struggling Manning if/when he’s healthy? Most likely, yes – but it won’t be an easy decision for coach Gary Kubiak.
