Week 7 Fantasy Football Tight End Outlooks

Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing a rash of injuries at wide receiver, one of the team's answers could be tight end Cade Otton, who is playing an impressive number of snaps and coming off a season high in targets. Otton has played more than 90% of Tampa's snaps for five weeks in a row and has continued to see more work in the passing game.

The fourth-year tight end caught nine of 11 targets for 132 yards during the past two games, and although he's looking for his first touchdown of the season, he figures to be a high-quality fantasy TE2 or bye week fill-in against Detroit in Week 7. The Bucs' first injury report of the week will be worth watching, however, as receivers Mike Evans (hamstring), Emeka Egbuka (hamstring), and Chris Godwin (leg) are all dealing with injuries.

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (hamstring), who is still on Injured Reserve, returned to a limited practice on Wednesday, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers have designated Kittle to return from IR, which means they now have 21 days to officially activate him to return him to their 53-man active roster. It gives the 32-year-old Pro Bowl tight end a chance to return for a Week 7 date on Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons, but it doesn't mean it will actually happen.

Fantasy managers are surely itching to get Kittle back into their starting lineups, but he's firmly up in the air to play this week. The 49ers would have to activate Kittle from IR by Saturday if they intend to play him on Sunday night. Kittle is a no-doubt TE1 in fantasy when he's active. If the Niners decide to wait another week to activate him, Jake Tonges would continue to have TE2 streaming appeal for one more week.

Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) did not practice on Wednesday, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. Bowers has not played since Week 4 due to a PCL injury to his knee that he initially injured in the season opener. It was reported last weekend that the second-year TE was unlikely to play in Week 7 against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs. With the Raiders' bye coming in Week 8, his next chance to suit up will be in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 2.

The 22-year-old looked well on his way to another beastly season after posting 103 receiving yards in Week 1. Still, he was unable to top 50 yards in the next three games, and now he's on track to miss a third straight game. Fantasy managers can only stay patient and hope he returns in Week 9 at full strength. With Bowers likely out again this weekend, Michael Mayer will be a viable TE2 streamer after catching five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over the Tennessee Titans.

Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. is coming off the best game of his young career in Week 6 at Pittsburgh, catching seven of 10 targets for 81 yards. Fannin could be set up for even more targets with David Njoku (knee) leaving Sunday's game early and missing Wednesday's practice.

The rookie trailed only wideout Jerry Jeudy for the team lead in targets and looks to be building a rapport with fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel on some of these underneath routes. Fannin's three highest games by snap share have come in the past three weeks, and he could be a focal point of their passing attack in Week 7 against Miami. He would rank as an upside TE1 if Njoku is unable to play.

Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer could see a starter's workload once again in Week 7 if fellow tight end Brock Bowers (knee) remains sidelined due to a knee injury. With Bowers out in Week 6, Mayer recorded five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown on seven targets against the Tennessee Titans. The Raiders have a more difficult matchup in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, Mayer profiles as a low-end starting option at the tight end position for fantasy managers while Bowers is out.

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson recorded season lows across the board against the Patriots, catching just two passes on two targets for 15 yards. He also lost a fumble in the fourth quarter during the Week 6 loss. This marked his second straight game with only two catches, and his snap share fell to a season-low 71%. Johnson's decline coincides with the returns of fellow tight ends Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau, which will continue to eat into his opportunities. While he's worth holding onto if production increases, he can be left on the bench for now.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki (pectoral) has been placed on Injured Reserve due to a pectoral injury, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 30-year-old has recorded eight catches for 61 yards on 16 targets through his first six games of 2025. He will now miss at least the next four games for Cincinnati.

With Gesicki sidelined and tight end Tanner Hudson (concussion) questionable to play in Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bengals will likely turn to Noah Fant and Drew Sample to handle the tight end snaps. Fant has recorded 16 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown on 18 targets across five games this season and could be a low-end streaming option for fantasy managers in Week 7.
