Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix DFS: DraftKings Daily Fantasy F1 Lineup Picks (2025)

F1 heads to Marina Bay this weekend for the Singapore Grand Prix. For the second race in a row, no McLaren driver is on the front row, as Mercedes' George Russell and Red Bull's Max Verstappen start first and second.

Verstappen has come on strong lately, winning the past two races. Can he make it three in a row this weekend or will we finally see this little miniature slump for McLaren come to a conclusion? If a McLaren does manage to win, it'd likely be Oscar Piastri as he's been the team's fastest driver this weekend, but the championship leader might have some work to do to get past the two front-row drivers.

Captain: George Russell ($15.3K)

Starts First

Only four drivers have won a race this season and George Russell is one of them, as the Mercedes driver led 43 of 70 laps in the Canadian Grand Prix back in June, winning from the pole. Until this weekend, that was Russell's only pole of the season.

Now, he's on pole once again, and he ran a very fast lap to make it happen, going 0.182 seconds faster than Verstappen and turning the fastest lap in Singapore Grand Prix history.

This came after Russell went third-fastest in Saturday's practice session, just 0.049 seconds off Verstappen's time. It was clear that those two, plus Oscar Piastri, were the class of the field on Saturday, and Russell managed to be the best of the trio.

Constructor: Mercedes ($9.7K)

McLaren remains the most expensive constructor, but with this recent dip in performance, I see no reason to pay up for them when you can get Mercedes for just $9.7K.

In addition to getting Russell for all the reasons highlighted above, you also get some exposure to Andrea Kimi Antonelli this way. Antonelli wasn't as fast as his teammate on Saturday, but he still managed to turn the fourth-fastest time in Q3.

Antonelli's rookie season has had its ups and downs, but it feels like he's turning a corner as he's scored points in three of the past four races and is coming off a strong fourth-place run at Baku.

Max Verstappen ($12.2K)

Starts Second

Can Max Verstappen be the second driver this season to win three consecutive races? Oscar Piastri did it back in the spring before his teammate Lando Norris started winning as well, but some recent bad luck for McLaren has opened the door for the defending champion, who won Monza and Baku.

Verstappen has to get past an incredibly fast Russell if he wants to win, but that's something that's well within reach. These past few races have proven that when Red Bull isn't at a big disadvantage speed-wise, Verstappen is still the best driver in Formula 1, and he easily could have been on the pole for Sunday's race.

Nico Hulkenberg ($5.0K)

Starts 11th

Gabriel Bortoleto has run well lately, finishing as the top Sauber driver in three of the past four races. However, this feels like a weekend for fantasy players to lean on Hulkenberg, who has his best starting spot since the Canadian Grand Prix. In that race, Hulkenberg started 11th and went on to finish eighth.

Meanwhile, Bortoleto failed to get out of Q1 on Saturday and will start back in 16th, offering a solid grid advantage for Hulkenberg.

And it wasn't just qualifying where Hulkenberg was Sauber's best driver. He was 12th in FP1 while Bortoleto was 17th, then 14th in FP2 while Bortoleto improved to 15th, but was still a little over two-tenths slower than Hulkenberg.

Finally, Hulkenberg picked things up even more on Saturday, going ninth in FP3 while Bortoleto was 12th. He's been Sauber's top driver all weekend, so why expect that to change in the race?

Ollie Bearman ($3.8K)

Starts Ninth

Ollie Bearman has only scored points in one of the past 14 races. Looking at that stat, you might conclude that his first full-time Formula 1 season has been a disappointment.

But I actually like how Bearman has been running. Over the past eight races, he's scored points once but has six other races where he finished either 11th or 12th. If just a couple more things went right for Bearman, we'd be thinking about him way differently at the moment.

Additionally, Bearman enters this weekend having finished as the top Haas driver in five of the past six races. He's performing better than Esteban Ocon and should be in line to do so again on Sunday, as Bearman starts ninth while Ocon starts 19th.

Pierre Gasly ($3.6K)

Starts 20th

We're just going for the "defeated teammate" points here, plus hoping enough cars crash or suffer mechanical failure for Pierre Gasly to sneak in some place differential points as well.

The first part of that should be within reach. Sure, teammate Franco Colapinto starts two spots ahead of Gasly, but the veteran driver has been the top Alpine car in five of the past seven races. Don't expect a great race from Gasly, but he can earn you some cheap fantasy points.

Last race's record: 9-1. It's the second race in a row that we went 9-1 here, and is also the second race in a row where we missed out on perfect by one position. I had Charles Leclerc down as the top Ferrari, but he finished ninth while Lewis Hamilton was eighth.

How Does Formula 1 Fantasy Work?

Here's how the scoring and format work for F1 DFS on DraftKings. You'll pick five drivers and a constructor. One of those drivers will be your captain, who earns you 1.5 times the points but also costs 1.5 times as much as they usually cost. For the constructor, you're choosing one of the F1 teams.

So here's how the scoring works. Your driver only gets points if they finish in the top 10. Here's a chart for how that breaks down:

In addition, the driver with the fastest lap of the race gets three points. You get 0.1 points per lap led, five points for beating your teammate, one point for being classified at the finish, and there are points for place differential.

Finish three spots higher than your grid position, and you will get two points. Finish five better, and you get three points. Finish 10 positions better to get five points. You also lose points for a negative place differential, starting at three spots.

The constructor points work the same way, with some added points if both cars do well. It's confusing, but for Formula 1 DFS to work, it probably had to be confusing, considering the huge gaps in speed between various teams and the small driver pool.
