Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Ceedee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys
It’s Week 3 and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb still hasn't found the end zone--but don't mistake that for a slow start. The Cowboys' star wideout has been as steady as ever, logging a rock-solid 92% snap share in back-to-back games and averaging 12 targets per contest with 222 total receiving yards. That kind of volume is fantasy gold. Touchdowns can be a fickle thing, but Lamb's chances look especially juicy this week in Chicago.
The Bears are allowing 234 receiving yards per game to opposing wide receivers, a matchup tailor-made for a breakout score. Double-digit targets are all but locked in, and with Dallas expected to air it out in a high-total game, the odds finally favor a trip to the paint.
A top-10 fantasy finish feels well within reach--so set Lamb in your lineup, enjoy the ride, and don't be surprised when he turns those steady targets into his first touchdown of the season.
Trey McBride, TE, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is currently sitting at the TE6 in both half and full-PPR formats through two weeks. The passing game in general hasn't looked too great, so McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr. are still getting up to speed.
McBride also hasn't found the end zone yet, just like the start of last season. He'll go up against a San Francisco 49ers squad in Week 3 that currently ranks sixth against the pass. Last year, however, he totalled 20 targets, 13 receptions, 118 yards, and one touchdown in the two games against the 49ers.
The top-ranked veteran pass-catcher remains a must-start as long as he's healthy, but if Kyler Murray could be more consistent, it will pay dividends for managers with McBride.
Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase had a slow start to the year, catching only two of his five targets for 26 yards in the Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns. However, the wideout turned it around in Week 2 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, totaling 14 receptions (16 targets) for 165 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately, Joe Burrow (toe) was injured in that one and will miss the next three months, at the very least.
As expected, Burrow's absence moving forward is a significant concern for Chase's fantasy managers. With that said, Jake Browning will take over under center for the Week 3 meeting with the Minnesota Vikings. While Browning isn't the best signal-caller on the planet, things could be much worse for Chase and the Bengals offense.
Fantasy managers should be just fine, especially since the 25-year-old is more than capable of racking up yards after a catch. Keep Chase rolling in all fantasy setups in Week 3.
Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua continues to rank in must-start territory ahead of Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Nacua has dominated through two games, totaling 18 catches, 221 receiving yards, 45 rushing yards, and one touchdown.
Even with a snap share around 70 percent, the young receiver has remained a high-volume option and one of Matthew Stafford's favorite targets. Furthermore, he has shown that he can co-exist alongside Davante Adams and that both receivers can be top-24 fantasy options in any given week.
While this week's matchup is tough -- the Eagles have allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points to receivers -- Nacua should still be able to produce as a low-end WR1 in fantasy football, especially if Los Angeles adopts a somewhat negative game script.
Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants
Nabers is also leading the league with 25 targets heading into Week 3, including a massive 167-yard, two-touchdown performance in Week 2. The Giants' wide receiver star is set up for another big day against a Chiefs defense that has struggled to contain opposing wideouts this season.
Kansas City ranks as the 25th-best fantasy defense against the position, surrendering a generous 39.95 points per game to wide receivers, locking Nabers in as a top-tier WR1 who should be in all lineups.
