Fantasy Football Draft Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider drafting in 2025:
Travis Hunter, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback hybrid Travis Hunter was selected No. 2 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He'll join forces with one of the brightest offensive minds in the league, newly-hired Jags head coach Liam Coen.
While Coen befuddlingly doesn't get much credit for his masterpiece of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense in 2024, he helped quarterback Baker Mayfield to his best career year by far, and produced four elite fantasy football players (Mayfield, WRs Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, and RB Bucky Irving). Thus, it's hard not to think that Coen can help quarterback Trevor Lawrence have a monster year, and thus both receivers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Hunter.
Hunter is an interesting case because he'll almost certainly play defense. Yet, Coen has already stated that he'll start out playing mostly at wideout. To think that Coen, an offensive-minded coach, wants to take an elite talent like Hunter as a WR and put him on defense most of the time seems preposterous. Expect a huge year out of Hunter. He could be a league winner in all formats.
RJ Harvey, RB, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos selected R.J. Harvey in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. It was a bit of a surprise as he was seen as an underrated prospect entering the NFL Draft and was not expected to get second-round draft capital. However, Broncos head coach Sean Payton clearly saw something he liked.
Harvey now joins Reggie Bush, Mark Ingram II, and Alvin Kamara as the only backs Payton has selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. This list certainly puts Harvey in good company. Ultimately, it doesn't guarantee anything as Harvey will need to produce with the touches he's given. Still, Denver has one of the best run-blocking offensive lines in the league and has been looking for a running back upgrade this offseason.
The team has seemingly pegged Harvey as their man. He has good burst, vision, and hardly goes down on first contact. Harvey has everything needed to be the next great fantasy running back in Payton's offense. Despite the team's addition of veteran J.K. Dobbins, gamers should feel comfortable using a mid-round pick to select Harvey in their drafts. During the preseason, Harvey was typically deployed as the starting running back, suggesting he has a slight edge over Dobbins in the depth chart battle.
Tyler Warren, TE, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren was selected with the team's 14th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The first thing that will frustrate fantasy managers about him won't be his talent, but the play of the team's quarterbacks. While Daniel Jones won the starting job over Anthony Richardson Sr., which should boost the overall passing attack, Jones has also struggled at the professional level, potentially limiting Warren's upside.
The Colts also have a crowded WR room, and distributed targets were frustratingly thin for fantasy managers last season. Warren had elite rushing upside in college for a tight end, though. There's been speculation that he could be good for six or more rushing touchdowns in his first season. He's a bulldozer with the ball in his hands, and that's good for something.
Warren might be a sneaky stud in standard (non-PPR) leagues, where his rushing value is more even with his receiving value, considering that zero points are awarded for receptions. While his QB room could limit his upside on a weekly basis, Warren is worth a look as a TE1 in the later rounds as he could emerge as the team's top option, especially in the middle of the field.
Dylan Sampson, RB, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns drafted two running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft -- the second one was former Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson. He broke a variety of Tennessee rushing records and was the SEC offensive player of the year during his massive 2024 campaign, in which he rushed for 1,491 yards and a whopping 22 touchdowns. Sampson has elite long speed, but a hamstring injury in his last game of his 2024 campaign slowed him heading into the offseason, and he wasn't able to participate in the 2025 NFL Combine.
His 40-yard dash from his Pro Day wasn't super impressive. Still, the tape shows a highly underrated player. He's a great pass-protector, especially impressive for his size, and has rocket boosters attached to his back. He's a much better tackle-breaker than he gets credit for. This last trait could cause him to get much more volume than many expect, much to the chagrin of fantasy managers of Quinshon Judkins, who was drafted earlier. Sampson is a nice value, though Cleveland's offense is ranked at the bottom of the league and will struggle to put points in 2025.
Judkins was arrested this offseason for battery and domestic violence. The Browns' rookie could face discipline under the NFL Personal Conduct Policy, but will not face any charges. However, the Browns have yet to sign him to a rookie deal. Jerome Ford would be Cleveland's lead back, while Sampson should see an increase in touches if Judkins were to be suspended or remain unsigned.
Woody Marks, RB, Houston Texans
Houston Texans running back Woody Marks was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which is valuable enough draft capital to put him on the fantasy football radar as a rookie. Marks spent four seasons at Mississippi State before one season in Los Angeles with USC. He hauled in a whopping 261 receptions in 57 career games and had a career-high 83 catches in 2021. His receiving skills give reason for optimism in PPR setups, but he was more than just a scat-back at the collegiate level. He accumulated 1,883 rushing yards overall and averaged 5.0 yards per carry, finding the end zone 22 times on the ground.
While he'll have to beat out Dameon Pierce and the newly signed Nick Chubb for the RB2 role behind Joe Mixon, it has become evident that the staff in Houston isn't high on the former Florida running back, and Chubb is likely to be a shell of his former self after multiple major injuries. The 28-year-old Mixon, who missed three games last year, is highly likely to miss at least a few contests in 2025. He is currently dealing with a foot and ankle injury and may not be cleared to suit up in Week 1.
Whether Marks carves out a receiving role that gives him standalone value, or Mixon misses time, there is a clear path to fantasy relevance in 2025. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues should consider stashing Marks, and he's a solid best ball dart throw for potential spike weeks. He is an excellent target in the final rounds of deeper formats as he could carve out a role rather quickly in the Houston backfield.
