Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater (knee) suffered a season-ending injury to his knee in training camp practice on Thursday and will undergo surgery to fix a ruptured patella tendon, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Slater will be placed on season-ending Injured Reserve after just signing a four-year, $113 million extension last month. The 26-year-old offensive lineman was carted off the field on Thursday after injuring his left knee. It's a serious blow for the Chargers offense, and specifically quarterback Justin Herbert, who will lose his blind-side protector for the entire season. With Slater now out for the whole year, expect Joe Alt to move to the left side, with Trey Pipkins starting on the right side of the O-line.--Keith Hernandez
