The Indianapolis Colts are signing eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers, who is coming out of retirement to rejoin his old team, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. With Daniel Jones suffering a torn Achilles in Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts worked out Rivers on Tuesday and have now officially signed him to their practice squad. The 44-year-old signal-caller last played in the 2020 season, starting 16 games for the Colts and leading them to their most recent playoff berth. He completed 68% of his passes for 4,169 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, and he should have a chance to immediately start for the Colts this season with rookie quarterback Riley Leonard (knee) considered week-to-week with a Grade 1 PCL sprain, and Anthony Richardson Sr. (eye) on Injured Reserve. The Colts will see how Rivers feels in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before determining how soon he can play. At best, Rivers will be a desperation QB2 option in deep superflex leagues if he starts this weekend against the Seahawks in Seattle.--Kyle McCarthy
