Roki Sasaki Scheduled to Face Live Hitters This Weekend
Roki Sasaki (shoulder) is scheduled to face hitters at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona this weekend, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The rookie right-hander has been throwing bullpens in July and has now appeared to progress to face live hitters. This will be the first time he has thrown to live hitters since he landed on the 60-day injured list back in May. Given the typical progression from an injury of this nature, Sasaki will still likely need to throw a handful of rehab outings before he's activated. Given the timing and nature of this injury, Sasaki would likely return around the time leagues begin their fantasy playoffs. This makes it challenging to trust him if he returns around that time, given he has only thrown 34 1/3 innings with the Dodgers this season and owns a subpar 4.72 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. Nonetheless, it's good to see that he is progressing from his injury for the long haul.
