Austin Riley Hopes to be Activated Next Week
Austin Riley (abdomen) took batting practice on Friday and seems hopeful to be activated from the 10-day injured list next week, per MLB.com's Mark Bowman. Riley is on the shelf right now due to a strained right abdominal muscle, but the All-Star break appears to have done him well, and he could be back for fantasy managers at some point next week. Until that happens, Nacho Alvarez Jr. will start at third base for the Braves. Alvarez is starting at the hot corner and is batting seventh in Friday's series opener against the visiting New York Yankees and right-handed opener Ian Hamilton. Riley will give Atlanta's lineup much more length and will provide them with a big bat in the middle of an offense that has struggled to put up runs in 2025. The 28-year-old has hit a strong .274 on the year with 14 long balls, 48 RBI and 51 runs scored in 379 at-bats.
