Christian Walker Placed on Paternity List
Christian Walker has been placed on the paternity list, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. Walker will miss a maximum of three days, which would encompass Houston's Monday-Wednesday series at home against the Cleveland Guardians. Outfielder Kennedy Corona has been recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land as the corresponding move. Walker is having a down year in his first season with the Astros, posting a .231/.291/.381 slash with 12 home runs, 45 RBI, and 36 runs scored in 364 plate appearances. He was off to a torrid start in July, hitting .429 with two homers and eight RBI across his first 29 plate appearances of the month. The Astros don't have an obvious fill-in at first base on their active roster. Isaac Paredes, Mauricio Dubon and Victor Caratini all have experience at the position and could be called upon if Houston shakes up their regular starting lineup to cover for Walker.
