Zach Eflin Allows 12 Hits In Monday's Loss
Zach Eflin did not fare well against his former team in Monday's 7-1 loss to the Rays. Eflin pitched five innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits (including two home runs) and two walks with two strikeouts. The 31-year-old has had an erratic season and is now 6-3 with a 4.81 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a 5.90 K/9 rate in 10 starts and 58 IP. On the positive side, his low K/9 rate appears to be due to some bad luck, as his swinging-strike rate is not out of line with his career average. Eflin will face a tough matchup in his next start at the Yankees. While he has shown solid skills at times this season, his unpredictability and the matchup make Eflin a sit candidate.
