Chase DeLauter Homers in Rehab Game on Tuesday
Chase DeLauter (abdomen) went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run on Tuesday for the ACL Guardians. The 23-year-old is there on a rehab assignment, hitting just .182 (4-for-22), but now with two home runs in eight games. Once the assignment is complete, the Guardians' second-ranked prospect will likely head to Triple-A, and if he can manage to stay healthy, a debut with the big league club could happen later this year. Maintaining health has been an issue for him, though, totaling just 96 games over the last two seasons due to multiple injuries. The former first-round draft pick has performed well when on the field, owning a .310 batting average and .893 OPS during his minor league career. With low strikeout rates and the ability to hit for both contact and power, the 6-foot-3 slugger could be an impact fantasy player in the second half of the season, so fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression.
