Anthony Santander Hitting Sixth on Tuesday Against Padres
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander is serving as the DH for the Jays on Tuesday and will hit sixth in the batting order versus the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Dylan Cease in the series opener. Santander is slowly moving his way down Toronto's batting order after originally starting as their three-hole hitter for the first 39 games of the 2025 campaign. The 30-year-old slugger had a career year as a first-time All-Star in 2024 with Baltimore, clubbing 44 homers and driving in 102 runs, but he's currently slashing just .182/.264/.308 with five homers, 16 RBI and a 44:18 K:BB in his first 41 games with the Blue Jays. Tuesday's matchup isn't the best one for him to turn things around against Cease, although Santander has hit .313 with a .916 OPS, a homer and three RBI against Cease in 16 career at-bats against him.
