Jaxon Smith-Njigba 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Clear-Cut No. 1 Role
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is entering his third year in the NFL and will look to expand upon his 2024 breakout campaign. With fellow wide receiver DK Metcalf nursing injuries over the second half of last season, Smith-Njigba went nuclear and finished with 100 receptions for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. Five of his six touchdowns came after Week 8. Smith-Njigba will enter the 2025 season with a new offensive coordinator in Klint Kubiak and a new quarterback in Sam Darnold. The Seahawks plan to take a more run-heavy approach as a team this season but that should not preclude Smith-Njigba from racking up targets. Additionally, Metcalf is gone, and the Seahawks let veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett walk in free agency as well. Seattle added wide receiver Cooper Kupp as their No. 2 option and a plethora of other free agents and rookies to their arsenal. There is no one on this roster who should threaten Smith-Njigba's volume or even his touchdown upside. With an improved offensive line and hopefully an improved running game, the Seahawks should unlock the play-action game where Darnold thrives. That should allow Smith-Njigba to work successfully in the mid-range of the field. While Smith-Njigba profiles more as a high-end WR2 despite his WR9 finish last season, he certainly has the upside and proven ability to finish as a WR1. His ranking by RotoBaller as WR13 is in line with his probable range of outcomes.
