Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out six in his latest start at High-A Everett on Saturday. Although his ERA looks bad on paper at 5.27, the ambidextrous pitcher has been deployed as both a starter and a reliever this season and has been less effective in those relief appearances. Over six starts, the 2024 first-round draft pick owns a 2.49 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 27:12 K:BB in 25 1/3 IP; however, as a reliever he's allowed nine earned runs on four hits and a 3:7 K:BB in just two total innings of relief (40.50 ERA). The 5-foot-11 hurler could make a push for Double-A this season, but isn't expected to reach the majors until 2027 per MLB.com's top prospects list. It is yet to be determined whether that will be as a righty or lefty or if he'll be able to maintain the ability to throw from either side as he ascends to higher levels, but it makes for one of the more interesting players to watch for dynasty managers.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
