Hunter Greene Placed On 15-Day Injured List With Groin Strain
Hunter Greene (groin) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a Grade 1 right-groin strain that he suffered in his outing on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. In a corresponding move, the Reds are calling up right-handed pitching prospect Chase Petty. It's a bummer for Greene's fantasy managers, but the good news is he isn't dealing with a serious groin strain and could be back in Cincy's starting rotation when he's eligible to come off the IL in a couple weeks. It's entirely possible that the hard-throwing 25-year-old will only miss a couple of starts. The former second overall pick in 2017 has been a must-start fantasy pitcher in 2025, going 4-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings. Petty is the club's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
