Late Slate: Daily Fantasy Football Week 9 NFL DFS Lineup Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel (2024)

Jalen Hurts - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Andy's late slate daily fantasy football Week 9 NFL DFS lineup picks on DraftKings and FanDuel for 2024. Set winning DFS lineups with his expert NFL DFS advice.

Welcome back to our late slate Week 9 DFS picks article here at RotoBaller! In this piece, I will examine my top daily fantasy football lineup plays for the late slate in Week 9 of the NFL season.

In Week 9, we have four games on the NFL DFS late slate on DraftKings and FanDuel -- Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears vs. Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks, and Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers.

The NFL DFS lineup picks and recommendations are based on matchups, overall upside/talent levels, opportunity, salary, and factors such as home-field advantage, implied point totals, and more. Good luck with your DraftKings and FanDuel DFS lineups. Let's dominate this late slate together!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Quarterbacks - Late Slate Week 9 DFS Picks

Top Play: Jalen Hurts- JAX vs. PHI (DK: $7,800 / FD: $9,300)

Jalen Hurts is coming off one of the best fantasy performances of his career as he threw for 236 yards and one score and added three rushing scores on 10 carries. Hurts was the beneficiary of the “Tush Push” all afternoon, as his three rushing scores were all within the 5-yard line.

His lone passing score came on a 46-yard strike to DeVonta Smith.

This weekend, he faces the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have allowed the third-most PPR points to opposing QBs. Hurts could be in store for another 30+ fantasy point afternoon.

Contrarian Play: Caleb Williams - CHI vs. ARI (DK: $6,100 / FD: $7,200)

My contrarian option is coming off one of the worst games of his rookie season. Williams could not find much rhythm until late in the second half against Washington, going a mere 10-of-24 for 131 yards and no scores.

This was his lowest completion rate of the season and second-lowest yardage total. However, Williams began to flash his upside in his two previous games before Week 8, averaging 265.0 yards per game and six total scores.

He will face the Arizona Cardinals this weekend, who have allowed the eighth-most points to opposing quarterbacks. Expect a bounce back for the USC product.

Running Backs - Late Slate Week 9 DFS Picks

Top Play: Kyren Williams - LAR vs. SEA (DK: $8,000 / FD: $8,900)

There are several “top” options at the RB position on this small slate, but I would prefer to roster Williams over any of them. The Notre Dame product has found the end zone at least once in every game this season and touched the ball at least 20 times in all but one.

Last week, against a tough Minnesota defense, Williams scored 22.6 PPR points. This weekend, he faces a Seattle defense that has allowed the 11th-most PPR points to opposing RBs. Expect the 24-year-old to see his typical workhorse role with ample opportunities to score.

Top Play: Jahmyr Gibbs- DET vs. GB (DK: $7,600 / FD: $8,600)

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is my top option to target on this slate. Gibbs has scored a 40+ yard rushing touchdown and has 100+ rushing yards in each of the past two games. Gibbs did not reach the century mark in a single game this season before this stretch.

However, despite being in a timeshare with David Montgomery, the former first-round pick has averaged an impressive 19.4 PPR points per game.

This weekend, the Lions will face the Green Bay Packers, who have allowed the 15th-most PPR points to opposing RBs. Even though Gibbs will continue to split carries with Montgomery, his upside is significantly higher due to his big-play ability.

Contrarian Play: D'Andre Swift - CHI vs. ARI (DK: $6,400 / FD: $7,200)

My alternative has been one of the most stable running back options since Week 4. During this span, Swift has averaged 22.6 PPR points per game, which is a stark contrast to the 5.8 PPR points he averaged during the opening three weeks of the campaign.

On Sunday, he faces one of the worst rushing defenses in football: the Arizona Cardinals. Given how Williams struggled last weekend, the Bears may opt to lean on their rushing attack even more in this one, which could open the door for a big game for Swift.

Wide Receivers - Late Slate Week 9 DFS Picks

Top Play: A.J. Brown - JAX vs. PHI (DK: $8,100 / FD: $9,000)

A.J. Brown is coming off his lowest output of the season but is poised for a bounce back facing the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last weekend, Brown totaled 84 yards on just five catches. This was the first time this season that he was held out of the end zone.

Through his first three games (DNP in Weeks 2 through 4), Brown averaged a stellar 22.1 PPR points per game.

The Jaguars have allowed the fourth-most PPR points to opposing wideouts this season. He and teammate DeVonta Smith are elite options and a great stack to pair with Jalen Hurts.

Top Play: Puka Nacua- LAR vs. SEA (DK: $7,200 / FD: $8,100)

The sophomore wideout was very impressive in his return last week. He led the Rams with 106 yards and seven receptions off nine targets. This was his first game since the season opener, as he dealt with a knee injury through most of the first half of the campaign.

Nacua caught 105 receptions in his rookie season for 1,486 yards and six scores. His performance last week suggests he should be in a great position to return to his elite form going forward.

This week, he faces the Seattle Seahawks, who have allowed the 13th-fewest PPR points to opposing wideouts this season. However, given his hefty target share and past success, Nacua is matchup-proof.

Like Brown and Smith, Nacua’s teammate Cooper Kupp is also a top option.

Contrarian Play: Rome Odunze - CHI vs. ARI (DK: $4,900 / FD: $5,500)

The Chicago offense was quite underwhelming last week, but one of the few bright spots was rookie wideout Rome Odunze, who led the team in receiving yards and receptions and finished second in targets.

Over the past three games, Odunze has tallied at least 40 receiving yards with a high of 112 in his Week 3 breakout.

Facing the Arizona Cardinals, who have struggled to defend the pass, could present a favorable matchup for the rookie, who is beginning to emerge as Caleb Williams’ go-to option in the passing game. The risk is there, but stacking Odunze with Williams could save you some salary.

Contrarian Play: Parker Washington - JAX vs. PHI (DK: $3,600 / FD: $5,400)

The 22-year-old could be in store for a big game this weekend as Christian Kirk (collarbone) will miss the remainder of the season, and Brian Thomas Jr. (ribs) currently considered questionable.

Last weekend, Washington got a small taste of the lead role, bringing in three of his four targets for 46 yards. The Jaguars will likely need to play catch-up against a tough Philadelphia team. Washington could be a sneaky bring-back option to pair with an Eagles wideout.

Tight Ends - Late Slate Week 9 DFS Picks

Top Play: Trey McBride - CHI vs. ARI (DK: $5,800 / FD: $6,800)

McBride enjoyed the most productive game of his season last week as he brought in a season-high nine receptions for 124 yards off 11 targets. Even though McBride has yet to find the end zone this season, he has averaged 12.4 PPR points with an eye-catching eight targets per game.

His weekly volume makes him one of the safest options for the position. This weekend, facing the Chicago Bears, who allowed Zach Ertz to catch seven passes for 77 yards last week, could set McBride up for another big afternoon.

Contrarian Play: Cole Kmet - CHI vs. ARI (DK: $4,400 / FD: $5,200)

After catching at least three passes in every game since Week 2, Kmet (and most of the Chicago offense) was held in check last weekend in the DMV.

However, during Weeks 3 through 7, Kmet averaged five receptions with an impressive 14.3 PPR points per game. If you want to save some salary at this position, grab Kmet, as he has been a productive tight end all season and should be expected to return to form this weekend.

Defense/Special Teams - Late Slate Week 9 DFS Picks

Top Play: Philadelphia Eagles - JAX vs. PHI (DK: $3,100 / FD: $4,500)

The chalk option this weekend will be the Philadelphia Eagles facing a depleted Jacksonville passing attack. Over the past three weeks, the Eagles have held their opponent to under 20 points.

In addition, during this span, the Eagles have tallied an impressive 14 sacks.

Contrarian Play: Arizona Cardinals - CHI vs. ARI (DK: $2,600 / FD: $3,800)

The Arizona defense has struggled at times this season but could be sneaky against the Chicago Bears.

Caleb Williams was under constant pressure all afternoon against Washington, and if those problems continue, Arizona could be in store for a solid showing.
