Sonoma NASCAR Practice Speeds, Lap Averages, and Notes

Ryan Blaney - NASCAR DFS Picks, Betting Picks, Daily Fantasy NASCAR

NASCAR Practice Speeds, Notes, and Lap Averages. Use these NASCAR stats and info to build lineups on DraftKings for the the 2024 Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway).

The NASCAR Cup Series ran a single practice session at Sonoma Raceway on Friday in preparation for the upcoming Toyota / Save Mart 350 on Sunday.

The 38-car field took to the brand new Sonoma track, as the surface was re-paved since the last time we raced here. This creates a lot of extra grip and will likely make it even more difficult to pass during the race.

The new pavement on Sonoma also increases speeds because of the extra grip, with many drivers going faster than the track speed record during practice.

Important Practice Notes

Will Brown - A new name on the speed chart this week is Will Brown, who is driving the No. 33 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. He races Supercars in Australia, similar to Shane van Gisbergen's path in NASCAR.

Cam Waters - Another new name on the speed chart this week is Cam Waters, who is driving the No. 60 Ford for Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing. Like Will Brown, Cam Waters is also currently racing Supercars in Australia.

Driver Spins - Several drivers spun during this practice session, but no major damage to report. Drivers that had issues included: Josh Berry, Erik Jones, Daniel Hemric, and Cam Waters.
