ANALYSIS: Brandan Donovan has been a contact machine, rapping 10 hits out over his last six games with six runs and six RBI in that window. He’s hit leadoff for STL from the jump against both lefties and righties, which may change as the Cards get healthy, but certainly not if he keeps this up.
The HR+SB juice isn’t overwhelming but a strong batting average with modest pop can go far in 2024. There was momentary worry that a hit-by-pitch injured his surgically-repaired elbow but he appears to be alright.
Brendan Donovan said postgame that he’ll be good to go Saturday. He was hit on the bicep in LA and just above the elbow in SD (and had gnarly bruises and seam imprints to show for it), but they were able to do enough work to get him loosened up and on a good path.
