Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner (ankle) did not travel with the team for its upcoming two-game road trip due to a high-ankle sprain. The veteran suffered the ailment in a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins and did not skate on Monday, the third straight day he has not been on the ice. "Trying to get him to the point where he is comfortable throughout the week, so he's day to day away from being day to day," head coach Sheldon Keefe said. "It's just that it hasn't been responding the way they (medical staff) had hoped, so it's just stepping back a little bit with it." Marner has missed the past three contests due to his injury and has tallied 25 goals and 76 points across 62 games on the season. Pontus Holmberg is currently taking reps to the right of Auston Matthews on the top line in Marner's stead.--Brenton KempRead More News
