Ty Gibbs will start second in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In his previous two Cup starts in Maricopa County, Gibbs has struggled. Not only is his average finish 24.5, but he lost a combined 24 points in place differential in these two contests. While these results are concerning, the one thing we have learned in 2024 is that last season means very little when discussing the reigning Rookie of the Year. For example, despite the data making a case against playing Gibbs in DFS at both Atlanta and Las Vegas, the 21-year-old overproduced at both tracks and even made an appearance in the DraftKings optimal lineup just last weekend. Considering the maturity he has demonstrated this year and the fact that he won his Xfinity championship on this track in 2022, there is a case to be made for the No. 54, regardless of what happened in 2023. Although we will not go as far as to call him a core play, he is a driver you should have exposure to when building your DFS lineups this weekend. --Adam Erhardt - RotoBaller
