The fantasy football playoffs are just around the corner, and these injuries could complicate start or sit decisions. Our injury updates and reports for Week 13 as of Friday, December 1, 2023, will give you the latest updates on key guys.
As always, some players have more "real" risk of missing Week 13 than others, but things change quickly, so it's important to stay up to date. Aaron Rodgers, De'Von Achane, Jonathan Taylor, Keenan Allen, David Montgomery, Aaron Jones, Breece Hall, and more are in danger of missing Week 13. Fantasy managers should be ready to pivot should things go south.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) is reportedly not close to being game ready. The veteran signal-caller is working his way back from an Achilles tear from September. The Jets did open his 21-day practice window on Wednesday.
That means, Rodgers could potentially be back under center by Week 15 or Week 16. However, the Jets would still need to be relevant in the playoff race for Rodgers to return this season. They currently sit at 4-7, so it seems unlikely that Rodgers is going to take the field again this season.
De'Von Achane Injury Update
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that rookie running back De'Von Achane (knee) is playing in Week 13 against the Washington Commanders. Achane returned from Injured Reserve in Week 11, but it didn't take long for him to aggravate his knee injury. The explosive 22-year-old then was held out of last Friday's win over the New York Jets. Achane will only end up being held out for one game, although fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited about his return this weekend.
The Dolphins are likely to ease the rookie back into their backfield alongside lead back Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr., who saw a season-high 14 touches in Week 12. Achane's upside is undeniable, but he's likely going to be a risky boom-or-bust fantasy option in his return this Sunday.
Jonathan Taylor Injury Update
The Indianapolis Colts officially ruled out running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) for the Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans after he underwent surgery on his injured thumb on Wednesday. There's no firm timetable on Taylor, but he's expected to miss somewhere between two to three weeks. The Colts are not considering placing him on Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss at least four games.
Fantasy managers must stash the 24-year-old and hope that he's back to full speed in a couple of weeks for postseason play in fantasy formats. With Taylor out, Zack Moss will have RB2 upside in fantasy lineups as Indy's lead back. Trey Sermon will serve as his backup, starting this Sunday against the Titans. (Colts.com)
Keenan Allen Injury Update
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen (quad) is officially questionable to face the New England Patriots in Week 13. Allen did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to a quad injury, but he was able to turn in a limited practice on Friday.
Allen leads all pass-catchers with 97 receptions, so he should never be taken out of fantasy lineups when active. If he's out, Jalen Guyton, Quentin Johnston, and Gerald Everett all become more attractive fantasy options. Running back Austin Ekeler would also likely see an uptick in targets.
David Montgomery Injury Update
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (foot) was removed from the final Week 13 injury report on Friday and will play this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints on the road. Montgomery will continue to split backfield work with rookie first-rounder Jahmyr Gibbs as he plays through a minor foot injury. Gibbs has earned more work next to Montgomery in the second half of the season, but Monty remains fantasy relevant as a touchdown-dependent RB2 in starting lineups.
The 26-year-old has seen 39 rushing attempts for 263 yards (6.74 yards per carry) and three touchdowns in three games since missing two contests with a rib injury. Montgomery is less attractive in PPR leagues, but he's been money for fantasy managers in 2023 with touchdowns in all but one of his eight games played.
Aaron Jones Injury Update
Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. Jones suffered a sprained MCL in Week 11 and will now sit out his second straight game after not practicing at all this week. Given the fact that Jones has yet to practice since injuring his knee, he won't be a lock to return in Week 14 on Monday night against the New York Giants, either.
AJ Dillon dominated touches in Green Bay's backfield in the Thanksgiving win over the Detroit Lions and will likely do so again this Sunday against the Chiefs, albeit in a tough matchup. Patrick Taylor will once again serve as Dillon's primary backup in Week 13. Dillon will have volume-based RB2 upside in fantasy lineups.
Breece Hall, Dalvin Cook Injury Update
New York Jets running backs Breece Hall (hamstring), Dalvin Cook (shoulder) and rookie Israel Abanikanda (illness) are all listed as questionable to play in Week 13 on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The Jets backfield is pretty beat up heading into this weekend, but Hall's and Cook's injuries aren't believed to be too serious, so we'd consider them on the right side of questionable.
Hall was able to practice in full on Friday, while Cook and Abanikanda were limited. The Jets offense wasn't much better with quarterback Tim Boyle under center in last Friday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. Hall did nothing on the ground but saved his fantasy day by being heavily involved in the passing attack. That may need to continue for Hall to return RB2 value for his fantasy managers against Atlanta.
Trey McBride Injury Update
Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride (groin) was listed as questionable for the Week 13 contest on Sunday in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. McBride did not practice on Wednesday before putting in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday, so he appears to be on the right side of questionable for this one. However, fantasy managers are going to want to check back on Sunday morning to make sure he's officially active.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a favorite target of quarterback Kyler Murray and has 20 catches on 25 targets for 234 yards in the three games since Murray returned from Injured Reserve. If McBride suits up this Sunday, fantasy managers should leave him in their starting lineups against the Steelers.
Chris Godwin Injury Update
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that wide receiver Chris Godwin (neck) will be a game-time decision for Week 13's contest against the visiting Carolina Panthers. Godwin popped up on the Week 13 injury report on Thursday with a neck injury and then didn't practice, so we'd consider him on the wrong side of questionable to play this weekend.
The 27-year-old has been the clear No. 2 this year behind Mike Evans with quarterback Baker Mayfield running the offense. Fantasy managers that have Godwin in their starting lineups right now need to have a backup plan in case he's ruled inactive, and the decision becomes even tougher with Tampa playing in the late window on Sunday. If Godwin can't play, rookie Trey Palmer would step up as the No. 2 behind Evans.
Marquise Brown Injury Update
Arizona Cardinals wide receivers Marquise Brown (heel) and Zach Pascal (personal) are both listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Brown was said to be trending in the right direction to play this weekend, but it's concerning that he didn't practice all week. Rookie Michael Wilson (shoulder) will miss his third straight game for the Cardinals.
If the 26-year-old Brown is active on Sunday, he'll be looking to keep the momentum going after recording his best performance after two clunkers with quarterback Kyler Murray back from Injured Reserve. If Brown is out or limited, Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch would both have expanded roles and be worthy of flex consideration, especially in a Week 13 with six teams on bye. Tight end Trey McBride (groin) is also in danger of missing Sunday's game for Arizona.
