The 2023 regular season season is almost here. That means fantasy players have less than 10 days to complete all of their fantasy football drafts.
One of the toughest decisions fantasy players have to make every year is deciding between two similar options. Since fantasy players can’t possibly draft both guys, they must make the hard decision on which player to pick.
Today, we look at whether fantasy players should draft Mark Andrews or T.J. Hockenson.

Should I Draft Mark Andrews?
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Andrews is a late-second-round pick in 12-team leagues and the second tight end off the board. Last year, the star tight end was the TE4, averaging 10.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. The former Oklahoma star had 73 receptions on 113 targets for 847 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Unfortunately, last season was a down year for Andrews. The star tight end missed two games with an injury. More importantly, Lamar Jackson missed five games for the second consecutive season.
The veteran tight end also saw his targets per reception and yards per target drop from 2021 to last year. However, Andrews should bounce back this season with new offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
Should I Draft T.J. Hockenson?
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Hockenson is a late-third-round pick in 12-team leagues and the third tight end off the board. Last year, the veteran tight end was the TE2, averaging 10.1 fantasy points per game. The former Iowa star had 86 receptions on 129 targets for 914 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Hockenson started the year with the Detroit Lions, totaling 26 receptions on 43 targets for 395 receiving yards and three touchdowns in seven games with the team. The Lions traded the star tight end to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9.
The veteran tight end had 60 receptions on 86 targets for 519 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 10 games with the Vikings. Hockenson scored his first touchdown with Minnesota on Thanksgiving against the New England Patriots.
Who Should I Draft?
Fantasy players should draft Andrews well before considering Hockenson. Andrews was the TE1 in 2021, averaging 14.6 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has consistently been one of the top tight ends since Jackson took over as the starting quarterback.
Meanwhile, Hockenson was wildly inconsistent with the Vikings. He scored 27.4% of his fantasy points with the team in the Week 16 matchup. Outside of that one contest, the veteran averaged 8.7 fantasy points per game with Minnesota.
I would draft Andrews, Darren Waller, and Kyle Pitts over Hockenson.
