Mike Clevinger more than 4.5 strikeouts
This might be a tough spot for Clevinger as the Orioles are posting a 90 wRC+ vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks, but they are also posting the second-highest K rate at 27%. Clevinger had mixed results in his two starts this season as he struck out eight in his White Sox debut against the Astros but then only managed to strike out one Pirate in his most recent. start. Given the strikeout results the Orioles have had thus far in 2023, I am betting Clevinger is able to get over the hump here.
Sean Manaea more than 5.0 strikeouts
Manea can be a mixed bag, but you have to love the matchup against Detroit tonight. Over the previous two weeks, the Tigers have posted a 36.0% (!) K rate vs. left-handed pitching, which is ranked the worst in baseball. Manaea is getting warmed up as he is fresh off of an eight-strikeout performance against the Royals. He also managed to strike out at least five in 18 starts in 2022.
Charlie Morton more than 5.5 strikeouts
Full disclosure: Charlie Morton has been my absolute nemesis over the previous couple of seasons, but I managed to peg him pretty well in 2022 and am hoping to do the same (obviously) again in 2023. He will be up against the Royals, who have posted the seventh-highest K rate over the previous two weeks with a rate of 24.4%. They have also posted a putrid 63 wRC+ mark over that same span. He is fresh off of a six-strikeout performance against the Padres and should be able to reach six in this one, which is a number he hit in 16 starts in 2022.
Steven Kwan more than 7.5 fantasy score
Kwan has had a solid start to the season thus far as he is batting .283 with eight RBI, seven runs scored, and three stolen bases. He will be up against Trevor Williams, who has allowed a .289 BAA, 12 home runs, and 20 doubles across his last 375 left-handed batters faced. This fantasy score is also a number Kwan has eclipsed in three of his previous four contests.
