James Paxton Unlikely To Be Ready For Opening Day
James Paxton (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, which is the least serious. However, he'll be shut down for a bit in spring training and seems unlikely to be on the Opening Day roster. The Red Sox's rotation will be thin to open the season, with both Brayan Bello and Garrett Whitlock also behind due to injuries this spring. Paxton, who has made just six starts in the last three years due to injury, has become quite familiar with the injured list. The 34-year-old southpaw missed all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He has had strikeout upside in the past, but fantasy managers should probably be looking for more reliable starting pitching options.
